GAME: New York Yankees (46-42) at Boston Red Sox (51-40)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 16 - 1:05 PM EST
WHERE: Fenway Park, Boston, Massachusetts
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will try to summon up the energy for a Sunday doubleheader to cap what has been a wild four-game series thus far at Fenway Park. After the Yankees blew a ninth-inning lead and lost Friday's series opener, they utilized a game-tying Matt Holliday homer in the ninth and used a three-run rally in the 16th to claim Saturday's meeting 4-1.

The marathon victory, which lasted nearly six hours, allowed New York to pull within 3 1/2 games of the first-place Red Sox but left both teams with uncertainty heading into a twinbill Sunday. They each used seven relievers in the longest game between the rivals at Fenway Park since 1966 - a scenario which figures to prompt some roster moves Sunday. Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is 0-for-9 in the series, while fellow right fielder Mookie Betts went 0-for-6 for the Red Sox in the 16-inning loss. New York turns to CC Sabathia in the matinee and Masahiro Tanaka in the nightcap, while Rick Porcello precedes David Price for the Red Sox.

TV: 1:05 p.m. ET, TBS, YES (New York), NESN (Boston)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees LH CC Sabathia (7-3, 3.81 ERA) vs. Red Sox RH Rick Porcello (4-11, 4.75)

Bryan Mitchell originally was slated to start this game but manager Joe Girardi bumped up Sabathia a day hoping for more length out of his veteran lefty to help out the bullpen. The 36-year-old Sabathia pitched just once after coming off the disabled list earlier this month, lasting 2 2/3 innings and giving up four runs in a loss to Toronto on July 4. Sabathia spun eight scoreless against Boston on June 7 at home but has a 5.25 ERA in 16 career starts at Fenway Park.

After leading the majors in wins a year ago with 22, Porcello entered the All-Star break topping the circuit in losses, although he has given the Red Sox plenty of innings. The former first-round pick, who allowed a run over eight strong innings in a defeat at Tampa Bay before the intermission, has finished at least six frames in 16 consecutive outings. Porcello suffered the loss in each of two encounters with the Yankees this year and is 7-7 with a 3.47 ERA in 16 career starts versus the division rivals.

WALK-OFFS

1. Boston placed RHP Joe Kelly (hamstring) on the 10-day disabled list and recalled RHP Brandon Workman on Saturday, while RHP Blaine Boyer left the game with elbow tightness.

2. Holliday's homer off Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel allowed the Yankees to remain the only team in the majors that has yet to be shut out.

3. New York is 4-39 when trailing after eight innings after going 3-71 a year ago.

GAME: Washington Nationals (54-36) at Cincinnati Reds (39-51)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 16 - 1:10 PM EST
WHERE: Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati, Ohio
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Homer Bailey has an ERA approaching 8 1/2 but he's provided the last-place Cincinnati Reds with a reason to feel optimistic over the second half of the season. Bailey will make just his fifth start of the season when he goes for a third consecutive victory as Cincinnati continues its four-game series against the visiting Washington Nationals on Sunday.

Bailey will be looking to atone for a rocky season debut at Washington on June 24, when he was hammered for eight runs over 1 2/3 innings. He will need to figure out a way to quiet an offense that erupted for 10 runs on Saturday night, particularly since the Reds failed to score in the first 16 innings of the series before rattling the Nationals' beleaguered bullpen for seven runs over the final two frames. Washington's Anthony Rendon continued his hot streak with a grand slam as part of a two-homer, six-RBI night and is 15-for-31 during a nine-game hitting streak. Right fielder Bryce Harper also is on a tear, hitting safely in 10 straight games while scoring 14 runs and collecting 11 RBIs in that span.

TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, MASN (Washington), FSN Ohio (Cincinnati)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals RH Tanner Roark (6-6, 5.27 ERA) vs. Reds RH Homer Bailey (2-2, 8.31)

Roark's last turn in the rotation was skipped due to a rainout and he wound up pitching in relief in his last appearance before the break, giving up three runs in five innings versus Atlanta. He is 0-4 over his last six appearances and allowed at least five runs in four consecutive starts from June 9 to June 25. Roark has made six career starts against Cincinnati, posting a 1-2 record and 4.37 ERA.

Bailey, who underwent shoulder surgery in late February, did not fare much better in his second start of the year - surrendering three homers and six runs in a loss to Milwaukee on June 29. He bounced back with six innings of one-run ball at Colorado on July 4 and limited Arizona to one run over 6 2/3 innings in his last start before the break. Bailey has limited Harper to one hit in eight at-bats.

WALK-OFFS

1. Rendon has reached base in 12 of 14 plate appearances over the last three games.

2. Reds 2B Scooter Gennett has homered in four of the past seven games.

3. Nationals RHP Joe Ross will undergo Tommy John surgery, the team announced Saturday.

GAME: Toronto Blue Jays (42-48) at Detroit Tigers (40-49)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 16 - 1:10 PM EST
WHERE: Comerica Park, Detroit, Michigan
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

After watching his team lay an egg to kick off the start of the second half, Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus called a meeting prior to Saturday's matchup against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. The Tigers responded with their highest offensive output in a month and will go for a series win in Sunday's finale of the three-game set versus Toronto.

While Ausmus declined to provide details on the meeting, he was quick to mention that former Detroit manager “Jim Leyland is the one who said, 'If you find a team that has a lot of meetings, it’s probably not a real good team.'” The big bats for the Tigers produced as J.D. Martinez and Miguel Cabrera each had three hits and a homer, with Martinez accounting for five RBIs. The Blue Jays failed to build on Friday's 7-2 series opening win, managing only two hits and needing to use their bullpen for six innings after Francisco Liriano exited early with neck stiffness. Toronto right-hander Marco Estrada, who is winless since May 27, will make his second career start against Detroit when he opposes Anibal Sanchez.

TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, Sportsnet, TVA Sports (Toronto), FSN Detroit

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays RH Marco Estrada (4-6, 5.17 ERA) vs. Tigers RH Anibal Sanchez (1-0, 5.89)

Estrada won his last two starts in May, striking out 20 and giving up two runs over 13 2/3 innings, but his season has taken a downward turn. The 34-year-old failed to get through five innings for the fifth time in his last seven starts last time out, giving up six runs and four walks over 4 2/3 innings versus the New York Yankees. Estrada is 0-4 with a bloated 9.46 ERA during a seven-start winless drought.

Sanchez had a 9.00 ERA in mid-May when he was banished to the minors after making 11 appearances - all in relief - but he has come alive since joining the rotation upon his recall. The 33-year-old earned his first win of the season with his third consecutive quality start, limiting San Francisco to two runs over six innings last time out. Sanchez has held All-Star Justin Smoak hitless in 13 at-bats.

WALK-OFFS

1. Cabrera tied George Brett (1,596) for 37th on the all-time RBI list.

2. Blue Jays 2B Ryan Goins is 0-for-10 in his last three games to drop his batting average to .200.

3. Martinez's three-run homer ended a nine-game drought without a blast.

New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson told reporters recently his team plans to sell at the trade deadline unless it performs "exceedingly well," which is exactly how it has played in its first two contests following the Midsummer Classic. New York will attempt to complete its first three-game home sweep of the season Sunday when it looks to finish off the struggling Colorado Rockies.

The Mets came out of the All-Star break trailing the Rockies by 10 1/2 games for the second wild-card spot in the National League, but New York has been the far superior team this weekend - outscoring Colorado 23-5 through two games. T.J. Rivera has played as big of a role offensively as any Met in the series - going 3-for-7 with a home run, four RBIs and four runs scored - and is batting .444 during his career-best 10 game hitting streak. The Rockies still have a 5 1/2-game edge on the Chicago Cubs in the wild-card chase, but they have dropped 15 of their last 20 and find themselves 11 1/2 games out of the NL West race after leading the division for 67 days earlier in the season. Colorado welcomed Nolan Arenado back to the lineup Saturday after he left early during Friday's 14-2 setback with a minor hip injury but watched starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood leave with a calf strain after only 19 pitches.

TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, ATT Sportsnet Rocky Mountain (Colorado), SNY (New York)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies RH Jeff Hoffman (5-1, 4.15 ERA) vs. Mets LH Steven Matz (2-2, 3.05)

Hoffman has cooled off considerably since going 4-0 with a 2.20 ERA over his first five starts of the season. The East Carolina product is coming off a no-decision against the Chicago White Sox in which he surrendered four runs in seven frames, although he is still 1-0 with a 3.92 ERA since getting pounded by Arizona for nine runs on June 21. Hoffman has been sensational away from Coors Field entering his first career start against the Mets, posting a 3-0 record and 1.67 ERA in four outings (2-1, 6.44 in six home appearances).

Matz entered his final start prior to the All-Star break riding 17-inning scoreless streak before getting pummeled for a season-high five runs on seven hits - including two homers - over a season-low 4 1/3 innings at St. Louis last Sunday. The 26-year-old has only pitched at Citi Field once this season, taking the loss against Washington after yielding four runs across seven frames. Matz was saddled with the loss in his only previous start against the Rockies last July after he allowed two runs over six innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Mets notched their 100th victory against Colorado on Saturday, improving to 64-33 at home in the all-time series.

2. Rockies 1B/OF Ian Desmond, who has been out since July 3 with a right calf strain, is expected to return to the lineup Sunday.

3. New York OF Yoenis Cespedes left early Saturday after slamming his right knee into the ground while trying to make a sliding catch.

GAME: Los Angeles Dodgers (63-29) at Miami Marlins (41-48)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 16 - 1:10 PM EST
WHERE: Marlins Park, Miami, Florida
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Cody Bellinger has spent the better part of the last two-plus months rewriting a number of the Los Angeles Dodgers' rookie records, so it is hardly surprising it took him only two games after the All-Star break to claim another. After yet another historical night Saturday, Bellinger and the Dodgers will attempt to win their ninth straight game one day later when they wrap up a three-game set in Miami against the Marlins.

Bellinger, who turned 22 two days after becoming the youngest All-Star position player in team history, continued his dream season in Saturday's 7-1 win when he joined Wes Parker (1970) and Orlando Hudson (2009) as the only Dodgers to hit for the cycle since the team moved to Los Angeles in 1958. The cycle - the first by a rookie in club history - powered the Dodgers (63-29) to their 28th win in 32 games and enabled the team with the best record in the majors to improve to 54-18 since his promotion on April 25. After taking six of seven a season ago from Los Angeles, the Marlins have dropped five of the first six meetings this season despite entering the All-Star break having won five of six overall. Amid trade rumors, Miami outfielder Christian Yelich is on a tear with five multi-hit efforts over his last six games - a stretch during which he is batting .444 after going 3-for-4 on Saturday.

TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, SportsNet LA (Los Angeles), FSN Florida (Miami)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Rich Hill (5-4, 3.69 ERA) vs. Marlins LH Chris O'Grady (1-0, 5.06)

Hill has logged exactly seven innings in each of last three turns - going 1-1 with a 1.71 ERA - after failing to last more than five frames in any of his first nine outings. The Boston native settled for a no-decision July 6 against Arizona despite giving up only a solo homer among the two hits he allowed while fanning nine, increasing his strikeout total to 27 over his torrid stretch. Hill was sensational in his only career appearance at Marlins Park last September, striking out nine over seven no-hit innings in a win.

O'Grady, who will start in place of the injured Edinson Volquez, enjoyed a successful big-league debut in San Francisco on July 8, picking up the victory after yielding three runs across 5 1/3 innings. The 27-year-old George Mason product earned his promotion earlier this month after going 3-5 with a 3.29 ERA in 12 appearances (nine starts) at Triple-A New Orleans while allowing hitters to bat .219 against him. O'Grady gave up a total of five earned runs over his final 30 innings with the Zephyrs.

WALK-OFFS

1. Bellinger, who is tied for the National League lead with 26 homers, became the sixth-youngest player to hit for the cycle since at least 1920.

2. After batting .332 and clubbing 14 home runs over their last eight contests heading into the Midsummer Classic, the Marlins are hitting .239 with no homers through two games in this series.

3. The Dodgers have won 28 of 32 only one other time in their franchise history, going 32-4-1 during a 37-game stretch in 1899 when they were known as the Brooklyn Superbas.

GAME: Arizona Diamondbacks (53-38) at Atlanta Braves (44-45)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 16 - 1:35 PM EST
WHERE: SunTrust Park, Cumberland, Georgia
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Things are going well for the Atlanta Braves, who got four RBIs Saturday night from unexpected sources off their bench as they moved in position to sweep the Arizona Diamondbacks in the finale of a three-game home series Sunday. Lane Adams lined a pinch-hit double to plate three runs and Jace Peterson added a pinch-hit homer Saturday, as Atlanta won for the 15th time in its past 23 games and captured its sixth series in the past nine.

Brandon Phillips snapped an 8-for-53 skid with three hits in the 8-5 triumph, falling a triple short of the cycle while driving in two runs. The Diamondbacks have lost four in a row and seven of eight overall, and continue to struggle away from home. Arizona dropped to 20-23 on the road, compared to a 33-15 mark at home. A.J. Pollock, who missed nearly two months with a strained right groin, finished 2-for-3 and walked twice in his first multi-hit game since returning from the disabled list July 4.

TV: 1:35 p.m. ET, FSN Arizona (Phoenix), FSN South (Atlanta)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks RH Zack Godley (3-3, 2.58 ERA) vs. Braves LH Jaime Garcia (2-7, 4.55)

Godley makes his 12th start of the season and looks to snap a two-game losing streak, despite allowing only four runs on five hits in 12 2/3 innings in defeats against St. Louis and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has not surrendered more than three runs in any start this season. Godley made one start against Atlanta in 2016, giving up seven runs in five innings of a no-decision.

The Braves likely will try to deal Garcia before the July 31 trade deadline, but he closed the first half with a thud - posting a 9.41 ERA and a .333 opponents’ batting average across his final four starts. The 31-year-old, who is winless in his past seven starts, gave up five runs on 10 hits in six innings to lose against Houston on July 5, after allowing six runs in each of his three previous appearances. Garcia is 5-1 in seven career starts against Arizona.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Braves are 38-33 since starting the season 6-12, and a victory Sunday would raise their season record to .500.

2. Atlanta CF Ender Inciarte collected three more hits Saturday, raising his average to .308 and giving him 117 hits this season (second in the National League).

3. Diamondbacks 1B Paul Goldschmidt, who entered Saturday tied for third in the NL in RBIs, drove in two runs Saturday to move into a first-place tie with 70.

GAME: Chicago Cubs (45-45) at Baltimore Orioles (42-48)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 16 - 1:35 PM EST
WHERE: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

After coming out of the All-Star break with two impressive offensive performances, the Chicago Cubs hope to continue the momentum in support of the newest addition to their rotation. Newly acquired left-hander Jose Quintana makes his Cubs debut as Chicago tries to wrap up a three-game sweep of the host Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.

The Cubs have scored 19 runs in the first two games of the series, and they hope to continue that trend behind Quintana, who suffered from a lack of run support while pitching for the Chicago White Sox. "I've always liked his body of work," Cubs manager Joe Maddon told reporters. "To plug him in there with the rest of our guys could be exactly what we're looking for in the second half. I would think our guys will be excited to play behind him for the first time." The Cubs have slugged eight home runs in the first two contests, which doesn’t bode well for Baltimore right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez. Jimenez has surrendered 19 homers, including two or more in seven of his 13 starts.

TV: 1:35 p.m. ET, ABC 7 (Chicago), MASN (Baltimore)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cubs LH Jose Quintana (4-8, 4.49 ERA) vs. Orioles RH Ubaldo Jimenez (4-4, 6.67)

Quintana lowered his ERA nearly a full run over his last five starts with the White Sox, going 2-0 with a 2.43 ERA over that span. The 28-year-old Colombian matched his season high with 10 strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision at Colorado in his final start for the White Sox on July 8. Quintana is 1-4 with a 4.29 ERA in six starts against the Orioles.

Jimenez is 3-2 despite a 6.59 ERA in five starts since rejoining the rotation last month. The 33-year-old Dominican has turned in two excellent outings during that stretch, including eight scoreless innings at Toronto on June 29, but he was also tagged for nine runs in 2 1/3 innings in a loss at Tampa Bay. Jimenez is 1-3 with a 5.14 ERA in six games (five starts) against the Cubs, but he has faced them only once since 2009.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Cubs have won eight of 11 all-time meetings, including four of five at Baltimore.

2. Baltimore DH Mark Trumbo is 11-for-36 during a season-best 10-game hitting streak, while 3B Manny Machado is 14-for-34 during a season-best eight-game streak.

3. Cubs C Willson Contreras is 14-for-37 in July and has hit safely in nine of 10 games this month.

GAME: St. Louis Cardinals (44-46) at Pittsburgh Pirates (43-48)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 16 - 1:35 PM EST
WHERE: PNC Park, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The road has not been kind to the St. Louis Cardinals, but they can claim their third straight series victory away from home with a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. The Cardinals lead the Pirates by 1 1/2 games for third place in the National League Central as the division rivals meet in the rubber match of a three-game series.

The Cardinals are 18-22 on the road and are in the midst of a 10-game road trip to begin the second half. St. Louis evened the series with a 4-0 win Saturday, as Lance Lynn and three relievers blanked the Pirates. Right-hander Carlos Martinez will try to keep the Pirates at bay again after throwing two dominant innings in Tuesday’s All-Star Game. Despite its most recent setback, Pittsburgh has won six of its last eight games but has totaled just one run in its last three losses.

TV: 1:35 p.m. ET, FSN Midwest (St. Louis), ATT SportsNet-Pittsburgh

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Carlos Martinez (6-8, 3.40 ERA) vs. Pirates RH Trevor Williams (3-4, 4.80)

Martinez is winless in his last four starts, and his last two outings have been among his worst of the year. The 25-year-old Dominican has allowed five runs and seven hits in five innings in each of his last two starts, taking the loss in both. Martinez is 4-5 with a 3.59 ERA in 18 games (nine starts) against the Pirates.

Williams hasn’t won since June 4, a span of six starts in which he has received only one decision. The 25-year-old had recorded three straight quality starts before an early hook July 7 against the Chicago Cubs, as he allowed three runs and six hits in 3 2/3 innings and suffered his first loss since May 19. Williams made three relief appearances against the Cardinals last season, going 1-0 with a 6.23 ERA in 4 1/3 innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Pittsburgh 1B Josh Bell is 12-for-30 with two home runs and 10 RBIs during a seven-game hitting streak, while OF Andrew McCutchen is 10-for-23 during a six-game streak.

2. Cardinals 1B Matt Carpenter has reached safely in 18 straight games, tied for the second-longest active streak in the National League.

3. Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is 11-for-21 with three doubles, a triple, and a home run against Martinez, while the rest of Pittsburgh’s active roster is batting a combined .221 against the right-hander.

GAME: Minnesota Twins (46-44) at Houston Astros (61-30)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 16 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: Minute Maid Park, Houston, Texas
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Brian Dozier is showing signs of another second-half power surge, something which could keep the Minnesota Twins in the thick of things down the stretch. The Twins will look for more from Dozier when they take on the host Houston Astros on Sunday in the rubber game of a three-game series.

Dozier smacked 28 long balls after the All-Star break in 2016 en route to a career-high 42, and the slugging second baseman has gone deep in his first two games since Tuesday's Midsummer Classic. His leadoff homer set the stage for Minnesota's 4-2 win Saturday night, which snapped the club's three-game slide and its seven-game losing streak against the Astros. The Twins activated first baseman Joe Mauer (back) from the 10-day disabled list Saturday while placing center fielder Byron Buxton (groin) on the DL. Houston, which had scored 29 runs over its previous two games before being limited to seven hits in Saturday's loss, gives the ball to veteran Mike Fiers on Sunday opposite Kyle Gibson.

TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, FSN North (Minnesota), ATT Sportsnet - Houston

PITCHING MATCHUP: Twins RH Kyle Gibson (5-7, 6.31 ERA) vs. Astros RH Mike Fiers (5-4, 3.84)

Gibson capped a rocky first half with seven runs allowed in four innings during a loss to Baltimore last Sunday. In addition to being his shortest start in over two months, he finished it with one strikeout and two walks, giving him 12 of each over a span of five outings. Gibson has been immune to Minnesota's recent issues with Houston, going 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA in four career starts versus the Astros.

Fiers allowed three runs in six innings of a loss at Toronto on July 8 while serving up his first home run since May 25. The Florida native defeated the Twins with six strong innings and eight strikeouts on May 30. Fiers has a 2.89 ERA in eight starts at home this year.

WALK-OFFS

1. Houston is 46-19 against right-handed starters.

2. Astros ace LHP Dallas Keuchel (neck) is expected to begin a rehab assignment Monday with Double-A Corpus Christi.

3. Dozier has six home runs in 14 career games at Minute Maid Park.

GAME: Philadelphia Phillies (29-60) at Milwaukee Brewers (52-41)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 16 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: Miller Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Milwaukee Brewers look to complete a three-game sweep before heading out on the road when they host the Philadelphia Phillies for the series finale on Sunday. Milwaukee has come out of the All-Star break to win the first two games of the set, posting a 3-2 triumph on Saturday for its eighth victory in nine overall contests.

Travis Shaw was the offensive hero in the latest win, leading off the eighth inning with his career-best 20th homer to snap a tie. The Brewers were unable to increase their lead in the National League Central, however, remaining 5 1/2 games ahead of Chicago as the Cubs trounced Baltimore. Philadelphia managed only four hits - three for extra bases - Saturday as it suffered its seventh loss in eight contests. Odubel Herrera registered two of them, including his eighth home run of the season as the 25-year-old Venezuelan has gone deep in three consecutive games and hit safely in seven of his last eight.

TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, CSN Philadelphia, FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Phillies RH Jeremy Hellickson (5-5, 4.49 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Matt Garza (4-4, 3.98)

Hellickson has suffered four losses during his nine-start winless drought and has settled for a no-decision in each of his last four outings, including a six-inning stint against Pittsburgh on July 6 in which he gave up three runs and five hits. The 30-year-old native of Iowa has worked at least six frames six times since his last victory, a road triumph over the Pirates on May 19. Hellickson is 2-1 with a 2.74 ERA in four career starts against Milwaukee.

Garza is coming off his first win in four starts, a victory over Baltimore on July 5 in which he scattered five hits over 6 1/3 scoreless innings. The 33-year-old Californian has been keeping the ball in the park of late, serving up only two homers over his last seven outings. Garza has posted an impressive 2.32 ERA over eight career starts against Philadelphia but owns just a 2-2 record.

WALK-OFFS

1. Phillies OF Aaron Altherr (hamstring) missed Saturday's contest and is listed as day-to-day.

2. Brewers RHP Junior Guerra (shin) is expected to be activated from the 10-day disabled list to start against Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

3. Milwaukee OF Hernan Perez hit his 11th homer on Saturday, leaving him two shy of matching the career high he set last season.

GAME: Seattle Mariners (45-47) at Chicago White Sox (38-51)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 16 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: Guaranteed Rate Field, Chicago, Illinois
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

All-Star Nelson Cruz looks to continue his power surge when the Seattle Mariners go for a three-game road sweep against the struggling Chicago White Sox on Sunday. Cruz homered for the fourth time in seven games Saturday to put Seattle ahead for good en route to a 4-3 victory - its third straight triumph and fourth in the last five contests.

Cruz leads the American League with 72 RBIs while All-Star Game hero Robinson Cano has gone deep four times in his last five road contests. Rookie Andrew Moore takes the mound for Seattle against veteran Derek Holland, who has had a rough season but owns a personal-best 13 wins against the Mariners after holding them to one run over eight innings in a victory on May 21. Trade rumors are swirling around the White Sox as they have dropped six of their last seven contests and 15 of 22 after going 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position on Saturday. Much of the talk has been about Todd Frazier, who has gone 3-for-23 in his last seven games for Chicago.

TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, ROOT Northwest (Seattle), CSN Chicago

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mariners RH Andrew Moore (1-1, 3.86 ERA) vs. White Sox LH Derek Holland (5-9, 5.01)

Moore has allowed three runs in each of his first three major-league starts, including a no-decision against Oakland last time out on July 8. The 23-year-old Oregon State product worked a season-low six innings in that outing and gave up two homers, pushing his total to five in 21 frames. Moore, a second-round pick in 2015, has issued just two walks overall and will pitch on the road for the first time in the majors.

Holland is winless in four starts and seven of his last eight, yielding at least five runs in five of those outings. The 30-year-old Ohio native owns a 3.12 ERA at home as opposed to 6.49 on the road, but he gave up five runs over 5 1/3 innings in his last turn at U.S. Cellular Field on July 1 against Texas. Cano is 16-for-48 with two homers and nine RBIs against Holland, who is 13-6 with a 3.57 ERA versus the Mariners.

WALK-OFFS

1. Chicago All-Star RF Avisail Garcia is 25-for-70 (9-for-24 in 2017) with 12 RBIs in his career against the Mariners.

2. Seattle SS Jean Segura is 4-for-9 in the series and has recorded 21 hits in 44 at-bats over his last 10 contests to raise his average to .352.

3. The White Sox have not drawn a walk in eight games this season, including Friday’s 4-2 loss.

GAME: Texas Rangers (45-45) at Kansas City Royals (44-45)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 16 - 2:15 PM EST
WHERE: Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Texas Rangers are climbing back into contention for an American League wild-card spot with the help of strong pitching, and right-hander Yu Darvish attempts to complete an impressive three-game sweep of the host Kansas City Royals on Sunday. The Rangers have won five of their last six games after Saturday’s 1-0 triumph and allowed 10 runs combined during that stretch to reach .500 at 45-45.

Cole Hamels tossed 7 2/3 innings of scoreless ball and the bullpen held up as Shin-Soo Choo delivered an RBI single in the ninth inning Saturday after Texas rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to win the series opener. Darvish, who made the All-Star team but did not pitch in the exhibition on Tuesday, will go for his first win in more than a month when he opposes Kansas City right-hander Ian Kennedy on Sunday. The Royals have dropped five in a row following a 6-1 run and managed just four hits in Saturday’s loss after going scoreless the final four innings of the setback on Friday. Kansas City’s Eric Hosmer went 0-for-4 on Saturday to end a 16-game hitting streak, but Whit Merrifield had a double to improve to 3-for-8 in the series.

TV: 2:15 p.m. ET, FSN Southwest (Texas), FSN Kansas City

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rangers RH Yu Darvish (6-8, 3.49 ERA) vs. Royals RH Ian Kennedy (3-6, 4.45)

Darvish has dropped four straight decisions but allowed two earned runs in two of the setbacks, including last Sunday in a 3-0 defeat against the Los Angeles Angels. The four-time All-Star walked four in that contest after issuing two free passes combined in his previous four outings. Brandon Moss boasts four homers in 26 at-bats versus Darvish, who permitted two runs over eight innings with eight strikeouts to beat the Royals on April 23.

Kennedy is unbeaten in his last six starts with a 3.22 ERA, going at least six innings in five of those outings. The 32-year-old UCLA product, who is 0-4 with a 4.71 ERA in seven starts at home in 2017, has struggled with the long ball, as opponents have swatted 17 homers against him in his 16 turns, encompassing 87 innings. Carlos Gomez is 6-for-16 versus Kennedy, who gave up one run and four hits over seven innings in a no-decision at Texas on April 22.

WALK-OFFS

1. Kansas City RF Jorge Bonifacio has hit safely in six consecutive games, going 8-for-25 during that stretch.

2. Texas 3B Adrian Beltre went 0-for-4 in Saturday’s contest, but is batting .343 in 87 career games against the Royals.

3. Kansas City RHP Nate Karns will have thoracic outlet surgery and miss the rest of the 2017 season.

PREDICTION: Rangers 5, Royals 2
