JACK BRAYMAN
Today, my free winner is on Toronto winning big, over a dejected Detroit squad.
Though pitchers are automatically listed when making Run Line wagers, I am insisting you DO NOT worry about who the scheduled starters are. In the event of a scratch, you MUST re-wager the game with the new pitcher(s) who are scheduled. This play will stand no matter who pitches for either team.
That's because the Tigers have lost 11 in a row and are now in third place in the lowly American League Central. They're now 9 1/2 games back of the Cleveland Indians and a horrible 13-27 on the highway this season.
The Tigers arrived in the 6 after losing 4-2 to the Oakland Athletics at Comerica Park on Thursday afternoon, while the Blue Jays took the day off. Well-rested, Toronto has proven to be much fresher than Detroit this weekend.
Last month the Jays hit .258, eighth-best in the league, while their 40 home runs ranked fifth in baseball in June.
None of this bodes well for the Tigers, who took two of three from the Jays in Motown back on June 1-3. No doubt Toronto is in revenge-mode, and undoubtedly will be looking for the three-game sweep against one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball.
Detroit's 4.79 ERA in June was the fourth-worst in baseball. Tigers pitchers also allowed the fifth-most home runs this month, having given up 40 in June.
Toronto wins in a rout.
