A man threatening to jump from a downtown casino parking garage prompted Metro Police to shut down part of a street as negotiators tried to talk him down, officials said.

Police responded to the D Hotel and Casino, 301 Fremont St., about 10:20 a.m. today, Officer Laura Meltzer said. Police were still negotiating with the man as of 11:30 a.m., she said.
The incident caused the closure of Carson Avenue between 3rd and 4th streets.

Had a really bad cocaine addiction when I was in my 20's(around 1980) and actually thought about suicide. Ironically, I was working as a truck driver for Coca-Cola at the time and was known by many as "The Coke Man". Some called me that because they knew of my habit but most did because I drove a truck for Coke. My habit got so bad all I thought about was when I was going to do my next line. One of the worst things in life is to have an addiction to something. Luckily, I survived mine.
