Capriotti's originated in Delaware, right in my backyard. I have a Capriotti's less then 2 miles from my house. Very nice family, known them for years.

I forgot about the one they opened in Vegas. Capriotti's was the last thing I thought I'd be talking about on these boards.

Quizno's SUCKS. I ordered chicken and bacon sub but I told the guy hold the bacon. It was an empty sandwich. Hardly any chicken. I've never been back.

Wolfie's in Miami Beach, I remember the place well, great Deli. I can't remember the name but there is a famous deli off Pico between Santa Monica going East (maybe Centinela) and Culver City. The place is famous for take-out deli.

True Wil, Wolfies is an Miami institution, like Joe's Stone Crab.

I've never heard of Centinela, but have a friend that lives right off Pico(near 3rd St Promenade), I know there is a Factors and maybe a Broadway Deli?

Shoe, sorry I kind of wrote that badly, I mean Centinela blvd and W. Pico as cross streets where the deli is (I think). You walk in and grab a number then order when they call you, I was working in an office in Hollywood and we would run down there on Sunday to feed the crew with take out. I can only remember how busy the place was and how great the food tasted.

Back around 95' or 96', Me and my best friend go into a local Subway. I order Sub, drink, and 3 cookies. As he is ordering after me, he sees that they sell cookies there. Which he didn't know that they did. So he asks the girl "how much are the cookies"? She goes 3 for a $1. 6 for $2, 9 for $3, and she kept going until he stopped her at 27 for $9. She was like very serious and not joking around. She was going to keep going. And he had tried to cut her off when she was at 12 for $4. But she just kept going, until he said "stop I get it" very loudly when she reached 27 for $9. I was laughing so hard my eyes were watering. She looked hurt and thought she was providing good customer service by running thru all his 3 for a $1 options. He was so angry about it. But to me it was friggin hillarious.

Wil, I thought you may have meant that, as a Spanish name sounded of the city's 90 percent named streets(La Cienega, Sepulveda,etc..), it sure wouldn't sell me as genuine Kosher on curb appeal.

The secret of a great sandwich is in the bread.
Neither Subway nor Quiznos qualify.

There is a place, actually 2 locations in the south Chicago suburbs called "Unbeatable Eatables", Now from the pure sub perspective, no toasted buns or anything, this place is damn near impossible to beat.

G-Money, I bet you are familiar with this place in Country Club Hills...

Hey Horeshoe

Thats one hell of a list you've compiled. You've never eaten a pastrami sandwich until you've sat in the late Abe Lebewohl's 2nd Ave Deli and asked for it fatty. A sub it not, but a peppery, bracing masterpiece on a rye it sure is.

There's 2nd Ave, Katz's a distant second, and then all the rest.

If you don't live in the North East you are completely cluelessas to what a sub is...

Quiznos and Subway are corporate garbage fead to brainless morons who have no taste for real food..

Come up north and try an Artone's or a John & Marry's sub; you'll walk away a wiser person.

One more thing, WE HAVE THE BEST FOOD HERE ON THE EAST COAST, BY FARRRR!

I'm with you Doc, great peppery pastrami can be eaten plain by itself, and usually must in NYC delis, at least for the first inch, just to make the sandwich small enough to fit in one's mouth.

Delis and Little Italy are my favorite things in NYC, Chinatown & Pier39 in SF, Tex-Mex in Austin, Taqueria/Osteneria in LA, SD, & Hou, BBQ in KC & Memphis, plus gulf seafood in New Orleans.

Good call JackStraw, I really enjoyed JerseyMike's subs when living in Austin.
