horribly called game....arm was definitly going forward when the ball left his hand...the roughing the passer on ben was biggest BS call...the first safety...luckily they still got the safety...and on the roughing the passer play ben was about to be sacked and the lineman tackled the guy about to sack ben from behind and it wasnt called, then they call roughing the passer...even though it was a great game and the steelers made the plays to win...its to bad the refs played a big part in it also...it just caps off a bad year for the NFL in their officiating department...i personally have never seen so many blown calls in one year!! and thats what ill remember going into next year...i also had arizona and the over so im not bitching cause i lost my bet...thats just truth!!

I agree horrible officiating through out the year. continued all the way to the super bowl.

my only bet on the game was over 47

not a fan of either team but refs helped the steelers win that won. they should get a ring too

He was talking about penalty that was called for roughing the passer by dansby but ben was still in the box while he threw the ball away.

You forgot the intentional grounding that wasnt called by Big Ben.

yeah they actually got that one right...but the no call on holding when the lineman tackled the defender who was getting ready to sack ben from behind allowing ben to throw it and then they call a BS roughing the passer...i cant remember what down it was..but it should have went 10 back and instead went 15 forward...that was huuuuge no call...and it was so obvious i dont know how in the hell an official did not see that but saw roughing the passer...this year has been full of that BS

In this game.......

I thought they had a lot of tough calls to make.

and

I also think they made some calls both ways that really didnt need to be called.

All in all........they were a bigger influence then needed but I thought they got the calls they did make correct.
.....and you know I hate officials!

Hello hannowsky77...

Its quite understandable to want to bitch and moan and blame the refs or blame the coaches or blame this or blame that when the final result wasn't the result that you wanted to happen, we all do it from time to time...

...hell's fire, the entire game I was bitching and moaning about Steeler offensive coordinator Bruce Arians' play calling which was TERRIBLE, why didn't he go for the touchdown with the opening drive instead of kicking a damn FG?

...Arians had a 10 point lead at intermission and then in the second half he called a totally conservative game which almost caused Pittsburgh to lose the game.

However, I really can't understand how you could feel that this game was tainted in someway, Pittsburgh had 7 penalties while Arizona had 11 penalties, the difference in penalties was mostly due to the holding calls against Arizona which were all pretty legit as Cardianal LT Gandy held Steeler LB James Harrison practically the entire game...

...afterall, there are only so many times you can grab a guy around the neck and facemask and not expect the refs to call it, after a while Harrison had enough of the holding and to his discredit finally retaliated but did so against a different Cardinal player.

Let's not lose sight of the fact that the Steelers had several calls go against them as well, including the huge holding call against Pittsburgh which resulted in a safety when in fact it clearly looked like it was simply a case of the Steeler lineman getting run over.

There are always cries of "The Fix was in", however, if the fix was truly in Roethlisberger's rushing TD would have counted and Warner's incomplete pass would have been ruled a fumble...

As far as the roughing the holder penalty, it was a dumb penalty for Arizona to make because the holder is indeed defenseless and considered in the same regard as the kicker, anyone looking at that play in an unbiased light would agree that the hit was way late...

...and besides that the Arizona roughing the holder penalty didn't result in any extra points for the Steelers as they ended up kicking a FG anyway.

In the big picture the Cardinals had their chance, they had a lead with 2:45 to go and they blew it, simple as that...

Take care and be well my friend

The OC doesn't make that call... that's Tomlin right there, absolutel horrible call...had they lost he'd be getting lynched right now.

How you do not try and drive it in from the 1 is beyond my.... especially when you have the league's best DEF should they have been stuffed.

it's the superbowl you moron, you ALWAYS take the points. they know that arizona gets in the backfield all the time, why not come away with something? from the 1, it's never guaranteed. ESPECIALLY when we aren't the biggest goal line threat.

No penalty on this play on Harrison's punk ass.

Nuff' said - the officiating was horrendous and the Steelers are Super Bowl Champions because of it.

I'm not saying this isn't something I expect from him, it's just unfortunate the officials had such a direct effect on the outcome of the game.

Unlike sports like golf and tennis football rarely decides a true champion. First off its a one game playoff with each team getting a mere 9-11 possessions to decide the crown. Most cases one possession decides the outcomes of these games and politics do play a part as well. I don't let the politics and the fact that the best team may not have won bother me as it once did. Was the best team Arizona yesterday? Yes Did I have the right side and most importantly cover my bet? Yes

This is all that matters going back and forth as to why this wasn't a fairly officiated game or how calls were missed (however you want to phrase) it is a big waste of time. Look forward never backwards.

Only concern yourself with things you can control and your pillow will seem much softer at night.

Nail, noggin.

You can't determine who the best football team is by playing 20 games.

It's been my knock on football my entire life.

Don't get me wrong I assure that those calls were missed and the league IMHO would be better for it if officiating was fair but nothing in this life is fair. Its common knowledge that the NFL has done a poor job when it comes to officiating. I've seen over 100 games this season and to be honest at least 20% of those games were decided by poor officiating. This is the fact of the matter and being bitter about is only natural but sometimes we just need to man up.

I would rank sports that truly decide a true champion in this order:

1)Golf (Four Rounds 72 holes plus no officiating)
2)Tennis (with the new replay system this sport has jumped to second)
3)Baseball
4)Basketball (too much politics in comparison to baseball IMHO)
5)Football
6)Soccer (one game to decide the world cup? Plus officiating is very sketchy)
7)Boxing (scandals galore)

I don't watch enough hockey in order to rank it. Would be unfair to post something I know little about.
