((Wrong forum...but the fantasy one doesnt receive much traffic and my draft is this afternoon))

So heres my question.
I'm in a keeper league and we can keep two players in the round we drafted them the previous year (after the 1st year of keeping that player, you must take them in their projected round).

So I can keep either...

Brandon Marshall in the13th round
- should have a good year with an improved Cutler but he's missing the first 2 games

or

Steven Jackson in the 1st Round
-great player but the hold out is still going on! skeptical offense, and will probably miss game 1 due to lack of practice

thanks for your input!!

I'd keep Marshall and Grant. Jackson is probably a top 3 RB and could end up being the top fantasy player this year, but you can get another great player in the 1st round. Not a chance you get anyone close to the caliber of Marshall or Grant in those rounds. Those two are both top 4 round guys, if not top 3.

STL OL is iffy. Bulger looks horrible in preseason so far. SJax could have another bad year.

i'd keep marshall

I think you should keep Grant & Marshall and drop Romo. 5th rounder for Romo is solid but Grant & Marshall for 7th/13th are much better values.

the question you have to ask yourself is if you let jackson go is there any chance you get someone at all comprable in the 1st round or are all the top end guys being kept

Thanks for your input...
I'm actually going to keep Grant in the 7th and Romo in the 5th. I select 9th since I took 2nd last year and there are only 5 1st round selections in front of me (since a few guys are keeping 1st rounders)

Here are the 20 keepers for the league....
Brian Westbrook Peyton Manning Addai LT Portis Tom Brady
Adrian Peterson Fitz Moss Brees Jamal Lewis Marion Barber III Romo Plaxico Burress Big Ben Braylon Wes Welker R. Grant

So, I think the 5 selections in front of me will be .... Lynch,S Jack, TO, Wayne, Colston

If one of those fall to me I will take them, if not I'm going with Willly Parker. I think he can have a monster year since Big Ben hoged all the TDs last year and it should be different.
I'll let you know how it turns out..

Thanks again for all the input:aktion033

S-Jax is a monster. He put up nice stats after missing all those games last year.

Not so sure I'd let him get away. Especially for a Ryan Grant.

Just FWIW, I also do a keeper leauge. We run ours differently though so the same guys do not keep the same players every year. It sounds like the guy who drafted LT 5 years ago still gets to have him on his team every year that does not seem to fair thus pretty boring every year. The way we run ours is if you would like to keep a player who you drafted, he must remain on your roster the whole entire year. If you drop him or trade him through out the year he is no longer available to keep. How it works is if you draft lets say Braylon Edwards which i did last year in the 12th round of my draft. I am going to keep him so this year he counts as my 8th round pick. If you would like to keep a player the pick counts 4 spots ahead of when you drafted him in the previous year. This allows no picks through the frist 4 rounds to be kept that way the best 50-60 players every year are all up for grabs. I personally like in this way.

Just a suggestion

Thanks guys for your view point...

I ended up keeping Steven Jackson in the 1st as he signed minutes before my draft started and Romo in the 5th. Marshall was tempting in round 13 but the 2-3 games that he's goign to miss was too much to miss in my opinion. The 1st half of my draft went well but I think i made some mistakes in the middle to late rounds with Houston RBs, Bennett (why did i grab this scrub?). I ended strong with Folk and Jax D in the final rounds

here's how my draft turned out...

S Jack : i love this beast, hopefully he can stay healthy.
Parker : i really like him, Roethles cant steal all the TD this year. However mendenhall might get some goalline carries.
W. Welker: 100 catches is nice
M. Harrison: value pick, going to be either an amazing or horrible pick
Romo : should put up big #s
Winslow: love to have this guy on my team, puts up WR type numbers every week.
Burleson: Id like to upgrade this spot, my 3rd WR, dont have much faith in Burleson even at #1 on depth and loss of their running game
Chris Brown hes a proven runner
Drew Bennett yes Isace Bruce is gone but really can he produce solid WR #?!?! what was i thinking
Favre nice back up
Ahman Green old man! he'll probably be retired by midyear, should I have taken Slaton instead?!?
D. Mason I drafted this guy last year, sucked to start off and then turned in 1000 yard season.. can he do it with Boller again?
felix jones I cant see much happening with this RB this year but if im able to hold on to him for a year he might be a nice keeper next year. LONG SHOT
Nick Folk Lots of scoring for da cowboys, hedge against Romos TD
jacksonville I like this group

Thanks again for the input!
