In a segment from the Week One game between Philadelphia and Carolina, during which Panthers receiver Steve Smith was wearing a microphone, a bizarre exchange unfolded between Smith and quarterback Jake Delhomme, who coughed up five turnovers in a 38-10 drubbing. Delhomme, whose confidence clearly is shattered, apologizes to Smith while the duo are sitting on the bench. Says Smith: "I never really liked you as a quarterback. But as a person . . . I love you as a person."

Is this a fact? In any case, Jake the crazy cajun is always letting me down just like the Panthers as a team always do. I keep thinking this is the year and they always disappoint me.

I think David Carr should have been kept around down there. Always believed the offensive line was his biggest downfall.

It was a joke.. If you know Steve Smith personality at all, he jokes around with comment like those... it's not a big deal. He was just trying to make Delhomme smile, by reminding him life could be worse. Football isnt everything to these guys... and I am a Panther fan...
