He'll spin it to where as the litigation is going on he'll make some statement saying something like he's confident the courts will ultimately do the right thing in the end and so therefore Sterling is basically as good as being out anyways. Lebron keeps playing and issues a new promise that if the courts rule in Sterling favor, then he'll boycott. But in the meantime the checks are getting cashed.

lebron is the face of the NBA at this point so he figured he would go out on a limb and get some clicks for his statement. if this is held up in courts for the next year or two there is now way Lebron will stick with this

NBA never expected this to be easy, but as long as this drags through the legal system they can tell anyone whos asking that they are doing what they can but its stuck in the courts.
