Agreed .. Mick Taylor was a big plus for the group. Should have gotten more credit for his song contributions too. Amazing how some people don't even know who he was.
I'm going next weekend at Barclays Center. Can't wait! Might be their last stop in NYC...
Mick Taylor is a great player. I always thought it was funny that when he played for the Stones, they never played their guitar masterpiece "Time Waits For No One" live because Taylor's great solo in that song would have upstaged Keith Richards. And Richards would have never stood for it. Great song if you've never heard it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TeR7P7pDxk
This was something I read in a rock mag a long time ago. I had heard that Taylor had the song in the can in 1973 before they recorded it, and wanted to play it on the 1973 tour but Richards didn't want it in. I don't know if it's true or not since everything with this band was a drug induced fog back then. I know the Stones were dicks back then, and not only didn't give Taylor writing credits for Time Waits For No One, but several other songs he wrote too."Time Waits For No One" was on the album "It's Only Rock'n'Roll", which was released in October 1974. They had a tour (named Tour of the America's) lined up in 1975 and he quit the band months before it was to commence. Therefore, there was never an opportunity to put it in a setlist with Mick Taylor in the band. In addition, there's no need to include a youtube link. I embedded that song in post #2 several days ago.
