Starting with Kazmir bad strategy IMO

Kazmir and Shields are pretty dead even. You could make a case for either guy, and both will probably pitch twice.

However by going with Kazmir in Game 1.....and then Game 5 in Philly....
You are allowing Philly to us their Left Handed DH bats (Dobbs or Stairs) in more games than they need to.

Philly will be able to use them Game 2, Game 6, and Game 7.
Where as if they started with Shields....Kazmir would start Games 2 & 6 (both in TB) and Philly would only be able to use Dobbs (one of their better bats) at DH in Game 1 and then IF it went 7.

As big as Madden is on strategy, I'm surprised they are missing this.

Well, shields is alot better at home then he is away.

I think his era is like 1 run lower at home.

Also game 1 start would shields would be putting him on only 4 days rest. I dont think maddon wants to do that

Yeah I realized the short rest thing right after I posted, LOL

I do think it is an advantage though that Philly gets to use Dobbs a couple times. We'll see what he does.

Philly does have a good DH in dobbs or stairs.

Someone else posted up how philly is a power team, they rely on the longball to win.

Look how they beat the dodgers.

Their run scoring is therefore kind of unreliable. In addition tampa has great pitching.

And besides Hamels, their pitchers are vastly inferior to the rays 4 starters

The key with this strategy is that it keeps them in current rotation, while also putting Shields/Garza as Game 2-3 and Game 6-7 starters

Personally, I think we're very likely to see Manuel abandon the notion of using Blanton in Game 4 and go instead with Hamels on shorter rest and so he can be available for Game 7

I'm pretty sure PhillyFan does not want to see Moyer starting Game 7 in St Pete vs Garza

Dont be a dick. I forgot that it would put Shields on short rest. I bet you if both guys were on full rest they would go with Shields, as having Dobbs in for more games helps Philly.

kazmir being so good at home and the rays having the best record in bases it makes me wonder why phils don't roll the dice with moyer the crafty lefty or myers game 1 and try to steel one then have hamels in 2 idk its all chess baby
