Scouting Report:
White Sox: Danks finally broke out of a recent mini-slump with one of his best outings of the season, allowing one run in eight innings against the Mariners. He was efficient, throwing only 98 pitches, and struck out eight batters in the process. The start was especially important because Chicago starters had struggled the last time through the rotation. Danks is 4-0 lifetime against Oakland with a 1.38 ERA.Athletics: Cahill achieved his longest outing since going seven innings on July 22, but it wasn't enough to keep him from suffering his 12th loss of the season. The rookie allowed three earned runs on eight hits, but issued no walks in his team's 3-2 loss to the Orioles.

Scouting Report:
Dodgers: Randy Wolf allowed a third-inning run after a leadoff walk, but otherwise shut down the Giants for eight strong innings and his eighth quality start in his last nine outings. The Dodgers have scored 32 runs in Wolf's last three wins and he now leads the staff in innings pitched. Wolf is 7-3 lifetime against the Diamondbacks, 1-0 this year.Diamondbacks: Petit could not follow his two exceptional starts with a third, as the red-hot Nationals pounced on him for nine hits and four runs -- three earned -- in four innings. Petit was lifted from the game for a pinch-hitter in the top of the fifth, ending his afternoon at 83 pitches. "I struggled with command," Petit said. "I was leaving the ball up at the plate and they hit it. My command on both sides was not working good.

Scouting Report:
Yankees: The Yankees eased off their rest plan by putting Chamberlain back in the rotation for Sunday's start against the Mariners at Safeco Field. He took a no-decision on Tuesday against the Blue Jays, allowing four runs on five hits in six innings. The right-hander is unbeaten in his past nine starts, having gone 5-0 with a 3.78 ERA over that span, while the Yankees have gone 8-1 in his efforts. Chamberlain faced Seattle on June 30 in New York, allowing three runs over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision as the Yankees won, 8-5.Mariners: The rookie gave himself a tough act to follow in his maiden voyage in the big leagues as a starter. He held the White Sox to one hit over six scoreless innings in his debut start on Tuesday night. His control wasn't as good as advertised -- he walked four and hit a batter. His fastball topped out at 90 mph, but he had good movement on his pitches and changed speeds well.

John Danks fanned eight in a win over the Mariners Tuesday, allowing seven hits and one earned run with one walk over eight strong frames to improve to 10-8.
An important bounce-back outing for Danks, who served up three long balls and seven runs in a loss to the Angels last time out. The young lefty has been up and down all season, but his .247 batting average against and 113/50 K/BB ratio are quality complements to a solid 4.04 ERA. He’s on track to hurl again on Aug. 16 in Oakland vs. the light-hitting A’s.

Cahill allowed three runs in seven innings, but fell to 6-12 on the season Tuesday against the Orioles.
Cahill is extremely young at just 21 years of age. Still, for as great a prospect as he is, he hasn't exactly been pitching well of late. He's now lost four straight starts and seven of his last eight decisions dating back to the end of June. He had given up at least five runs in each of his last three outings before Tuesday. While Cahill still has a bright future ahead, he is not impressing a lot of Fantasy owners
Cahill had struggled his last three times out, but he had solid control Tuesday as he didn't walk a batter.

White Sox's lineup Sunday vs. Oakland, turn-back-the-clock uniforms

By Mark Gonzales

OAKLAND - Manager Ozzie Guillen making good on his vow to keep his players fresh while filling out the strongest White Sox lineup possible.

Sunday's lineup at Oakland doesn't include Carlos Quentin, who is 1-for-15, and Paul Konerko, who is hitless in his past 19 at-bats.

The Sox and Athletics will wear throwback uniforms, with the A's wearing their 1929 uniforms. The Sox's uniforms are gray with blue numbers.

Here's the Sox's lineup:

Podsednik lf

Beckham 3b

Dye rf

Thome dh

Rios cf

Pierzynski c

Ramirez ss

Kotsay 1b

Wolf finally gets rewarded for gem: Dodgers SP Randy Wolf had another impressive start Tuesday at San Francisco, only this time his team gave him the run support he needed for the victory -- his first in four starts. He allowed one run on three hits with one walk and three strikeouts in eight innings. He hasn't allowed more than four earned runs in a start since June 24 -- a span of nine starts.

Wolf has a record of 6-6 even though he has a 3.43 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. Clearly, he has suffered from bad luck. With a few more wins, we might think of him as a must-start in Fantasy. As his record stands, he's a great option at the back end of any staff. His next start and second of Fantasy Week 19 (Aug. 10-16) is scheduled for Sunday at Arizona.

Petit ends scoreless streak in loss: Arizona SP Yusmeiro Petit came into Sunday’s game on a roll. Petit had not given up a single earned run in his previous two starts, both wins, spanning 14 innings. He had only given up a total of five hits over that span and had 12 strikeouts. It wasn’t the same guy on the mound on Sunday against the Nationals. The suddenly red-hot Nationals, who improved a winning streak to seven straight games with Sunday’s win over Petit. The Arizona starter gave up four runs – three earned – on nine hits and lasted just four innings to drop to 2-6 on the season. Petit walked one and struck out three. His ERA is at 5.87 on the year.

It looked like Petit, 24, had turned some kind of corner after his last two starts. He backed up just a tad on Sunday. What do you make of three porous losses sandwiched around two awesome almost unhittable starts? Well, you clearly can’t trust him to give you consistent performances, that is for sure. With his next start coming on Saturday against the best team in the baseball, the Dodgers, we’d only consider him in NL-only Fantasy leagues.

After having his next scheduled start moved to Wednesday earlier this week, the Yankees announced Friday that Chamberlain will instead throw on Sunday, the NY Post reports.
Sunday is Chamberlain's regular turn in the rotation. This type of flip-flopping could drive owners in weekly leagues crazy in the coming weeks.

Fister allows one hit in first start: Mariners SP Doug W. Fister, making his first major-league start Tuesday against the White Sox, allowed just one hit in six shutout innings. He also issued four walks and recorded four strikeouts in the no-decision.

The 25-year-old Fister was Seattle's seventh-round draft choice in 2006. He went 6-4 with a 3.81 ERA in 22 games, 17 of them starts, at Triple-A Tacoma. He doesn't have an especially high ceiling, but he performed well enough in this first start to earn a look in AL-only leagues. His next start and second of Fantasy Week 20 (Aug. 10-16) is scheduled for Sunday against the Yankees.
