Any parent who sends a kid to pitch for that team is crazy. They let starter stay in there after throwing 130+ pitches, other night he let starter throw 150 + pitches. This is crazy to burn a kid out and ruin any shot at a pro career.

Chris, I've seen a LOT of it in high school.

They don't care at this point.....winning is all that matters. Sad but true.

2 weeks ago they have a great special on this on ESPN. Kerry Wood in his senior year threw 170+ pitches in a game, that is crazy.

RPM, that was before they figured out the permanent damage that it was doing to the kids shoulders.

If your a mainline pitcher, 140+ is no big deal, same with a straightball pitcher 140+ is no big deal. Espn brain washing folks on pitch counts, mlb pitching coaches in 90% of the cases are completly clueless. Kerry Wood hurt his arm from throwing Curveballs incorrectly, not from too many pitches in highschool.

Geez , so I guess that Tom House and Leo Mazzone who said every pitcher should be on a pitch count don't know what they are talking about, Marquess is better than 90% of the big leauge managers, get real

He is a college coach, how many times do they majors choose a college coach to be a MLB Manager

Chris,

Dont' bother argueing with Rail, he doesn't have a clue. If anyone's from CA he thinks they know what they're doing. Hell, he thinks OJ was framed.

Mazzone is a drunk with no teaching credentials, Tom House worked with me personally, he is mediocre at best.

Overall this is a good subject with more questions than answers. I'm not sure what is good and bad for arms any longer as I've heard so many opinions on each side of it. In the old days seemed guys could throw forever without doing any damage. What was the guys name who threw both ends of a doublehitter and both were no hitters? LOL.

I believe your mechanics have more to do with it than anything when it comes to injury. Also maybe genetics are factored in as well. I played a little and back then the scouts didn't even want to check you out if you were not over 6 foot as they believed you were more inclined to develop arm trouble. Not sure how weights fit into it either but I think they are a factor as well. When players rarely lifted in the old days seemed they weren't hurt nearly as often. The bigger and strong your muscles are developed I would guess the easier it us to pull something? I got more questions than answers like everyone else. I do agree with the first post in this thread that it was crazy to leave him in going to the 10th inning. No reason for that.....

Patrick very good points, in the old day's guys pitched forever. These day's everything is under the microscope. Day's of the Complete game have gone wayward
