good lord. I didn't lose a dime on this game, but was still pissed off at the way he handled it. From what I saw, they dominated. Moved the ball, and looked sharp at all facets. Then during crunch time, PANIC set it.

Shaq was dead on, his panicking rubs off on the team.....what kind of play was that, down 3 with no timeouts left??? no one coming off a screen towards the baseline? no back pick or running a shooter through multiple screens? you got 2 CLUTCH shooters that can drain......why was big Dwight even in there?

and then having him miss the FT ON PURPOSE with 5 seconds still to play?

LOL quantum! what a douche he is, that game most likely cost them the series.

I too would be fuckin pissed if I had the Magic. So much more talent, but a chump running the squad.

On the post game interviews, Lewis called his teammates dumb and Howard completely threw Van Gundy under the bus, saying he didn't get the ball enough cause of the play calling.:madmad

Ladies and gentlemen the Orlando Magic ship is going down, currently caught at the top of whirlpool. A mutiny is afoot. Back this team at your own risk the next game.

If I was Vangundy I'd pull a reverse Latrel Sprewell and grab Howard by the throat and teach him a thing or two.

He looks like he's about to cry about choking on the sidelines, I can't help but to believe his scared looking attitude rubs off on his team.

Other than that, he seems like a good man.

It was also partly the players fault.

Van Gundy has far exceeded Orlando's expectations when he was hired two years ago. The "choke" thing started by Shaq is getting way too much hype. The Magic blew a lead to the defending champs, on the road, in a 2nd round playoff game. Let's not get carried away and toss Gundy completely under the bus for that. His achievements over the past two seasons proves he can coach.

Magic are lacking the chemistry they had with Nelson out there. That is the problem.

Actually Snook, I agree and raise you one..........it was predominantly the player's fault. The coach didn't throw up that left handed hook prayer that Alston did. Nor the open three point brick that Lewis hit nothing but the right side of the backboard with. And he's your best shooter on the team.

You're correct. People are looking for a scapegoat for the team's poor effort down the stretch and find it handy to use Shaq's quote.

Look at it this way: Doc Rivers had it going with Marbury on the court in the 4th qtr. Steph was hot and put in 12 pts. in limited minutes. He then pulled Marbury and put Rondo and the starters back in the game. Last I checked, Rondo had 6 points for the entire game. Why aren't we criticizing Rivers for taking the red hot Marbury out of the game? Why? Because he went to his starters. Same reason why Van Gundy put Rashard and Alston back in the game.

Gimme a break. SVG is made out to be the whipping boy for the player's inability to execute in crunch time.
Just shut up Dwight Howard.

Furthermore, are you trying to tell me that this was the first time all season that the players needed to execute a critical out of bounds play with time running out? Please.

worst coach in the NBA? Yea, his team's in the semi of eastern conference, I'd say he's the worst coach in the NBA:ohno:

I do think though that he does shit his pants in crucial situations as Shaq mentioned.

Admittedly, the "worst" coach was used to prove a point. The guy has a talented squad, and in my opinion, what I thought was THE most talented squad in the East if Jameer were healthy. (this series has proven otherwise, I mean you add KG to the Cs they are waltzing into the Finals again)

BUT

I have watched Stan Van Gundy for years. he took a Wisconsin basketball team in the mid 90s LOADED with blue chippers....Stu Jackson just took the team into the dance and won its 1st round game in 94. They then added Rashard Griffith to a team with Michael Finley, Tracy Webster among others and what did Van Gundy do????? led them to 13-14 record and missed every post season tourney.

That team should have sleep walked to 20 wins but the guy simply does not motivate. You can put the best athletes in the world on a team, and if SVG coached them they would fail. WHY? because they would play as individuals, rather than a cohesive TEAM. We've all played orgainized sports I'm guessing along the way at some point in our lives, and while PLAYERS definitely are the ones executing, its the coach's job to put the players in the best spot to win.

he didn't do that 14 years back.
he hasn't done that ever since I've been watching him....and he is orchestrating a team that has turned on each other in 1 series???? Guys, this isnt coincidence. The guy is a choke artist

and what happened after Van Gundy got fired in 05-06 in Miami??? The HEAT won the championship. Coincidence?

just look at the talent he's had on those teams.....his regular seasons are solid, but he is no where near an upper echelon coach.

I wouldn't want him to run any team that I backed frankly.

worst coach all right, taking a group of young players with zero to small playoff experience to the finals, beating the regular season champs on the way.

That's right.....Boston was the "regular season" champs; I almost forgot that. it must have been those damn injuries.
