I follow the Cardinals and bet on them more then any other team in baseball. Here are some interesting stats:
The Cardinals have won 9 games in a row, longest streak since 2001.
They just swept the Padres and Dodgers in the last week, outscoring both teams 34-13. They lead the league with 14 series sweeps.
Cardinals have the best road record in the majors (44-21).
Edmonds has 8 home runs in the past ten games.
He also is 13-27 with a .482 avg in the last seven games.
Rolen leads the league in RBI's with 117. He has a .352 batting avg on the road.
Pujols is a monster on the road with a .339 batting avg, .667 batting avg against SD.
Chris Carpenter won his last matchup against Eaton (4-2). Pujols, Rolen, and Walker all hit homeruns off Eaton to give Chris the win. He went 7 innings allowing 6 hits, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. Carpenter, like Williams likes to pick the corners and freeze their batters with a nasty curve ball.
My suggestion: I like to wait and see the lineup before I place the bet. La Russa likes to rest his players from time to time. Pujols will be starting tonight because he had the day off yesterday, but Walker is doubtful with a bruised knee.
I'm taking the Cardinals tonight and Chris Carpenter SO'S+BB'S -6 1/2
GL to all!
