Philly (ML -1.30)

Tampa Bay +1/2 (-1.30)

Detroit +1/2 (-1.10)

Georgetown Hoyas -1.5

ML Parlay: Duke/Ottawa/Sharks (laying $200 to win $500).

all the other plays are for a standard bet of $200.

Question for you. Who is the goalie for the Leafs tonight? I think the Leafs were looking ahead to the Sens the other night vs Chicago. Good luck to you.

We must cap different but when we agree(like Edmonton last night) good things will happen more often than not.

I have many possibilities tonight that I need to narrow down. I have a hunch with Atlanta tonight so that is the only one I would disagree with. No opinion on Tampa. I really like Ottawa and San Jose so I may do a similar thing with a parlay. And of course, I like NC so we disagree there. If you have time, comment on any of the rest of my NHL leans which I need to narrow down: Buffalo UNDER, NY Islanders, Vancouver, Vancouver UNDER, Atlanta OVER, Calgary, Calgary OVER.

Guys,

The sharp plays for tonight would be:

Boston ML Even 2 units-- Why is Buffalo Fav?

Atl thrash ML + 120 --I think that this price is dropping quickly. I picked it up at $120 last night

Stl Blues ML +150 (as long as Kiprusoff isnt activated). No way Calgary is -165.

When betting hockey you are crazy to lay money against the Moneyline(ML). Hockey betting can be extremely profitable if done right. The biggest thing with hockey is looking for VALUE.

A " square" play tonight would be on PHILLY and CALGARY. Books love these bets because they clean up on Money line Favs.

Good Luck

Calgary and Philly by all means could win but teh RISK is not worth the REWARD. If you follow that you will be just fine in the NHL.

nice discussion possibly, well lets look at the atlanta thrashers chances tonight, and by the way, i agree laying is not the way to go for the norm.

atlanta tonight: atlanta goes for 1st win in 2 weeks (cold team)
tharshers have dropped 3 straight and are 0-5-2 in last 7
Philly is better team (better record)
Philly is 4-0-1 in last 5 road games.
FLYERS are 12-2-2 in last 16 matchups of teams
Incase you didnt read the line above, plese do 12-2-2.
Philly is 6-1-1 in last 8 trips to atlanta
Incase you didnt read above line, plese do 6-1-1 in last 8

just my reasons for taking philly tonight, and of course as always either side could win..

Now for B/G:

Yes i lean to bos/buff under
No i dont like islanders, home team is 9-1-1 in last 11 in this series and thats enough for me to make this a no play if not a montreal play.
Yes id lean to vancouver and under as they have won 3 straight and 4 of last 5 with devils, however whenever possible i dont bet against devils. I have no opinion on the cold st louis blues blues and yes i know you lean to calgary. and by the way if anyone can bet stl at this moment good luck to them. however b/g, stl has won 5 straight and 6 of 7 in this series, enough to make it a no play for me. and they have won the last 3 in calgary.. just my comments and as always anybody can win..

This is a good discussion.

SSI-- It seems as if you follow the tends fairly closely. I found a good resource for scouting out games is letitridesports.com. Check out the database section..its pretty decent.

I have a few rules I stick by in the NHL.

1. No moneyline Favs
2. No Unders
3. No -.5 at anytime.

What do u think? What are some of your factors when making a decision. I try and take as much human element out of it as possible. By this I meAN I let the Line choose my games for me.

B AND G

I think the Canucks have a good chance tonight against NJ. Cloutier has played well against them as well. I definetly would not take the Under as both teams can score, No Stevens, No Jovo. It could go under but its not worth it. Theres so many options that you can be choosy and wait for value. I always feel the need not to force things why bet something if there is a good chance of the other side happening. Boston looks strong tonight and would lean towards UNDER but would personally lay off. CAL-STL OVER is a good bet.

nice discussion:

Im just the opposite, i try to decide the number and not let the number decide for me.. However there should be limits, i try and never lay over -1.50, only in a rare circumstance or moneyline parlay. One should give a lean to the dogs if possible, value can be found in the +1/2 goal, ive got 2 of them tonight.. I weigh heavily one teams dominance over another, I weigh whether a team is a good home team or a good road team, some teams are totally different at home or away. I cant tell you why, i love to take the hot teams and go against the cold teams..

Look at STL vs. Calgary tonight, Nobody is colder than stl at the moment (or almost nobody), however STL has owned calgary and especially at Calgary. This is a classic example of a no-play for me.. and if forced to play this game, id take STL +1/2 (even)..

You have a good set of rules, i dont like laying 1/2 goals either.. I will play an under, especially the under 5.5, when i have the game capped a 5. and for me its no ML favorites over -1.50.. also i try and not focus on single games when looking at my record or units won.. I like to look at a group of 100. then see how many favorites that ive played, how many dogs that ive played.. things of that nature.....

St. Louis is a mess. Plus they played last night. SL pulled their goalie twice in the last two games. Calgary is the easy play IMHO.

No Pavel Demitra either. Another 1/2 unit for me on this game.

Calgary should win but there is 0 value in that play. Betting teams like Calgary at-165 is not a quality play IN MY OPINION. However best of luck to you. I have 1 unit on St.Louis nothing major but their is Value in their number. I dont handicap teams as much as I analyze VALUE. Good Luck KEV. . How do you feel about Boston?

I took Boston for one unit. Buffalo playing over their heads.

Philly @ Atlanta is interesting game.

On the one hand you have Atlanta, getting the extra money or the 1/2 puck at home, & they have a winning record at home to boot. Against a Flyer team that played last night in Washington.

On the other hand we have all the stats mentioned above by SSI.

Myself I tend to be more of a 'value' player than a trens or stats player myself...If i see a dramatic line move in a given game & I am confident it is the general public moving the line I will almost always bet against the move.

Best of Luck tonite SSI...personally i went with the Sens as my lone hockey play -.5 -140...but that is cauz I am in Ottawa. Was too risky for me to post as a play in my thread. This Ottawa vs Toronto rivalery has become the best in the league
