BS....Do you have any idea if OU's practices are going to be open to the public this spring?

South Carolina was scheduled to start today but pushed back to Thursday. Too cold outside. I had to laugh a few times at that.

Word is that Stoops would like to open up practices, but will probably not. The reason is because the standard gear for this Spring's practice schedule is shirt, shoulder pads and pink panties. This includes coaches. Because of past BCS Bowl performances, players and coaches will no longer be allowed to wear men's underwear until they are able to win a BCS bowl. There are no exceptions to this rule. Good luck, ladies!

In light of the Corey Wilson situation I thought your "pink" comments were a little lame.

Go easy Russ...BS is one of the best cappers around. He's as frustrated by OU's recent BCS blunders as I am. The Huckleberry is none other than Doc Holiday.... aka Val Kilmer.

Still no justification in my book. Those kids are missing Corey and they just do not deserve to be the butt of someones joke. I saw the movie and I know who the Huckleberry in that was. I was wondering who "his" huckleberry is. Frustrations or not, there is a time and a place to say or do almost anything. His timing could not have been worse. Absolutely no excuse in my book.

Russ...I'm not really sure how you can relate a joke about a team practice to anything concerning Corey Wilson. Those are two completely different subjects.

Like I said there is a time and a place. I'm over it but if this guy lives in Oklahoma he should know that. OU football is one subject and includes all of the players and coaches. It is about respect and if he doesn't get it he doesn't get it. Just a reminder though, Corey Wilson can't practice right now.

Take it easy Russ, I think your being a little too sensitive. His joke had nothing to do with Corey Wilson. There are tons of annoying posters on this site as I'm sure you have learned but SoonersBS is far from one of them. He's an asset to this site and usually has the first 3 weeks of season broken down like a prophet.

Ok I get it. I know what it is like to lose a team mate. I know BS did not have Wilson in mind when he made the remark. I guess I did not see the humor or the need for the remark in general but I know he meant no harm.
I actually appreciate you guys standing up for him. At my age I guess I have a problem being the new kid on the block but you guys have gone out of your way to make a point and to set me straight. But I am going to wear pink undies and I don't care what anybody thinks.

Chill out, Russ. Try to know a person for a while before you go off on them and start judging them.

Word in early practice is that Bob Stoops has been going off on the offensive line calling them the weak link of the team. This is all psychological warfare though because Stoops knows he has some talented guys with potential, but he needs them whipped into shape to gel early and perform at a very high level. We can't afford for this unit to wait until midseason to start clicking, they will be expected to click starting game #1 this year . . . . .

In other news, this is a pretty important development for Rutgers here:

Rutgers dismisses receiver Campbell

Associated Press

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers dismissed junior receiver Dennis Campbell from its football program for a violation of team policy.

Coach Greg Schiano did not say how Campbell violated team policy in a release Tuesday evening.

Campbell played in 35 games and caught 25 passes for 307 yards and one touchdown, including 13 catches for 183 yards and a TD last season.

His dismissal comes at a bad time for the Scarlet Knights.

Kenny Britt opted to enter the NFL draft after catching 87 passes for 1,371 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Tiquan Underwood also won't be around next season after making 40 catches for 494 yards and five touchdowns in his senior season.

Tim Brown will have the most experience among the returning receivers. He had 27 receptions for 565 yards and six TDs last season.

It looks like Stoops has thrown down the gauntlet to the OL. If you stop and think about it there is more to that than just losing 4 starters. As ballyhooed as they were if you look at that OL's performance against Florida they were probably the biggest dissapointment. We all held our breath on every special teams play but we actually beat Florida in that department. The achilles heal turned out to be what was supposed to be our greatest strength. The OL accounted for 107 yds rushing on 29 attempts and gave up 2 sacks for 18 yards. In addition there were a couple of crippling penalties and one big let down on the goal line is directly on their shoulders. So as much publicity as last years OL got when it really counted they did not come through.
Are they replaceable? Yes. Can we replace them with what we have? Yes. But you can see that Stoops knows that if OU is to get where they want to get next year then the OL has to be better in big games and especially for defenses like Floridas. I think he is trying to change the mind set and focusing on discipline and trying to let his line fly under the radar for once. Too many times I watched our guys get a stupid penalty trying to manhandle an inferior opponent and get penalties that we were able to overcome against lesser foes. I believe that LY's OL were the focus LY and perhaps did not play up to expectations in the big games. We strugggled to run against Texas also. In the end you have to ask your self just how good was last years OL. You may have to finally admit that they were over rated or may not have lived up to expectations at least when it really counted. Stoops knows that his OL is critical but he also knows that he has to instill discipline and stress basics and try to instill a new mind set in some kids that could someday emerge as better than LY's. I could be wrong, but I think Stoops is trying to do more than issue a challenge. I think that he is trying to solidify the part of the team that has to meet the challenges of going up against the better defenses. How they play against Texas is going to be the first test. By then they will have gone up against Miami and BYU so that should pay off some dividends then. After that we will know which direction the OL line is going. They may in fact have a chance to be the biggest surprise, and in a good way. Having a good OL is also another part of attracting a future QB of Bradford's caliber. Stoops is all over this one.
