YTD 1-2, -2.4 Units

Lost last night with the Wolves, as they blew a late lead. Small card tonight, but a few that look good to me....

Houston/Dallas Over 190 2 Units

Total has moved down a few points due to the Rockets shitfest last night, however I feel this one is good for an over. The new coach in Dallas, Rick Carlisle, has pressed his team to run more this season. They now have a more uptempo offense and a good point guard for that, with Jason Kidd. He has now had a full training camp with his team and that can only help the offense. Houston's offense has another weapon this season, with the addition of Artest. It also helps that the Rockets best defender, Battier, is out injured for this one. 3 of the 4 meetings between these two went over the posted total last season, with an average of 197 ppg. I expect more of the same tonight.

New Orleans/Phoenix Under 198.5 2 Units

No more crazy uptempo offense from the Suns this season. New coach, Terry Porter, has been preaching defense and half court offense. A lot of offensive sets pounding it inside to both Amare and Shaq. As shown by last night's game, they will still run a ton of pick and rolls. However, I do not expect nearly as many shot attempts as past season's under D'Antoni. Both teams on back-to-back tonight, as they both had tough games last night that came right down to the wire. I do not see this one getting over 200 tonight. I will take the under.

Houston Rockets +5 1 Unit

Really feel that the Rockets are one of the top 5 teams in the league this season. Cannot say the same for Dallas. Not so sold on the Kidd trade that Dallas made last season. I would prefer the much younger and quicker Devin Harris. Dallas is a team I feel that has hit their peak a few years ago when the lost in the NBA Finals. It has been downhill since then. Houston, on the other hand, is about as solid as they come. They have now added Artest to the mix, to give Yao and T-Mac a legit third option. Their top 3 NBA defense from a year ago may actually be improved. Just feel that I am taking the better team here and catching points as well. Keeping it smaller due to the fact that Battier is out and because Dallas has owned this series as of late.

Best of luck to all!

Friendly observational notes follow

*Rick Carlisle is now promoting a more "running" style offense? Did he have some kind of epiphany since his days in Motown and Indy?

*Ron Artest may well help the Houston offense, but it's fair to say this defensive contributions are equally important and will likely balance each other out when calculating Houston Total scores during the upcoming season

I have no stake either way in the Hou/Dal Total...so certainly BOl on your selection and with my Dallas moneyline selection, I'll cheer for a four or less point win so we both get the cash.

I tailed you today and I am smiling regardless of how this last game ends (although I will MUCH happier if NO covers and this stays under 199)

NICE JOB

Terrible ending to the first half. Not sure exactly, but it seemed like there was about 35 points scored in the final 5 minutes of the first half. :ohno:

Had the right side of the total... simply a fix is all... I know it's the nba(wwe) but who the hell fouls down by 11 with 35 seconds left?

2-1 on the Night....

Nailed the Houston game, winning on both the side and the total. Real tough loss with the Suns total. Just too many 3's in bunches, including 12 points in about a minute in the final few minutes of the fourth quarter. Even with that, there was a chance the under could cash. That was before Terry Porter instructed the Suns to foul down 11 points with 40 seconds left. That sucked.

Be back tomorrow....

Didn't know where all the 3s come in at the end...and they actually run the shot clocks all the way down too

This one had hints of trouble all night long, starting the way the first half ended. Then it looked like the under was gold midway through the fourth quarter. Then another huge scoring outburst, with tons of 3's. The dagger came at the end when Terry Porter fouled down 11 points with under 40 seconds to go. That still has me shaking my head. :smoking:
