You in the drug trafficking industry or something? Been in Costa Rica nearly 10 years now don't know anybody who has been violently robbed, let alone shot, and even worse murdered. Not to say it doesn't happen, but with normal precautions its a pretty safe place. Sounds like you need to pick your associates a little more carefully.

Do you know what the difference is between your 2 friends and my dead cell phone? I care when my cell phone dies. You are the dummy that came on here trying to compare Costa Rica to run down cities in the US as if it is truly that dangerous of a place to live/visit.

I've had a great time down here - I have always found CR to be one of the friendliest places I visit. And this trip I was turned on to the Waze GPS program, so getting around has been a breeze!

I was amazed when I got waze on my phone down here. Was heading back from Poas volcano one day got lost. Waze got me around heredia zig zagged thru all these one way streets and got me out on the lindora road. It even told me it was about to rain and a minute later it started pouring. Was shocked how well it worked here in a country with no name streets and without addresses.

Lived here for 12 years..yes things occur but nothing out of ordinary..You want trouble you can find it..
