Hi,

I'm new to these boards, and I'm glad I signed up, since it seems that alot of interesting information is shared here. Anyways, I got into sports betting a couple of months ago... And I wanted to make some good money. I read about some handicappers offering their services, and I chose Bob Akmens, since he really does seem to have alot of W's under his belt. At first, in MLB baseball, he started off really good in the last 2 weeks of July... But his plays in August have not been really good (Under .500). And I think that these cappers charge really high prices for their services.

Anyways, does anyone else pay some handicappers for their services? If so, who? And does anyone else use Bob Akmens' services? What did you hear about him, is he really good?

Thanks for the help in advance

Most are boiler room scamdicappers. They are just looking to get your money. I would stay far away. I used a service once. They are no better than guys on here capping games. You can look in the baseball sections and fade or tail some of the guys on here. I find that guys on here know more than your paid tout out there. They claim to have inside info, but that is pure BS. Then what these guys do is sell your number like telemarketers and you will get flooded will high pressure calls to buy their picks. There may be some good cappers out there, but buyer beware.

I see... But he did mention that he will absolutely not telemarket my phone number so that I won't receive those calls like you're saying. However, he did start off with a good run in July... I don't know, maybe he's having a bad run? I've checked the Las Vegas Sports monitor and he did rank #1 alot of times. But I never read any review about anyone who actually used his services... That's really what I'm looking for...

Thanks for the tips, much appreciated

By the way, I just checked the baseball forum like you told me to. I came across some stuff that I need help to actually understand:

YTD: 167-156 +19.98 Units

I'm guessing 167-56 means W's and L's but what about the other stuff? Thanks

Its okay..

YTD means Year To Date thats my record of wins and losses since season started.

Units mean a portion of money.. I.E= Some people have $5 units, some people have $500 units..

If a $5 bettor followed me play 4 play they'd be ahead $99

A $500 bettor would be ahead $9,990
