This is not a new concept. Hasn't ASM been live for a while now? Anyway, you have a slightly different concept with Protrade.com and I detect they are not generating the interest they thought they would. They were even linked to MLB.com at one time becuase they were fantasy based. The main problem with the concept is that most gamblers don't like the small ROI assuming they win. Who want's to carry a portfolio netting maybe $100 when you can meet your man for 1k in cash? I do believe it has a market somewhere between fantasy players and careful investors who see this as recreation.

Finally, it's going to be a long time before the US gives the green light on sports, money at risk, and regulation. Personally, I love the concept and good luck.

Boddie,

ASM went live in August of 2004, and Protrade followed in late 2005 I beleive but is a completely different concept all together. Thank you for the best wishes, there are many people who are hoping it suceeds for many different reasons.

UPDATE:

Bernie Nicholls (ASM Spokesman) was on in between periods of the NJ/BUF NHL game last night talking about ASM. The client base has been informed that ASM was engaged in discussions with the NHL head office in New York on Monday regarding the concept moving forward.

What is really scary is that this article was written as if they knew that allsportsmarket sports derivatives currently exist!

From what management has told clients, the next 120 days will be extremely important in the sites development.

I feel very cofident that - a regulated global sports financial exchange trading sports derivatives and other contracts is just around the corner. It's just a matter of time.

ASM is a joke. Their management is terrible and the market is illiquid. Peebs is writing all of this stuff up because he gets commission off of what he receives for referrals. Trust me. I have even tried to get a tiny $200 withdrawal from the site and they put my account on hold. Before that I withdrew $300 and it took them 3 months to get the withdrawal processed. I caution anyone who even thinks about putting money in this site. The owner owned a similar site in the past that went under quickly. He transferred many accounts over to ASM. It's a great idea, but it has bad operations and terrible customer service. I warn you!

I may be out of line here, but anything remotely connected with the federal government, I am totally against.

And if Robert Walker has anything to do with it forget it right now. This man should be cleaning bathrooms with his sportsbetting knowledge.

Robert Walker? What a joke!

Bombay,

Just so you know I dont get any referrals from this thread and I stopped posting the affiliate stuff in the other thread a long time ago.

My goal here is to educate people and that is all.

As I said to Wilheim in the other thread, a year from now there will be an entire thread section on here devoted exclusively to the trading of sports derivatives. The site is in the final stages of securing US regulatory approval, securing oversight by the CFTC and joining forces with an existing exchange to offer these derivatives to investors worldwide. Not to mention every significant major sports legend is lining up to endorse the idea. When the media blitz starts - it won't stop. But before all that can happen, all the t's must be crossed and every "i" dotted. Regulating something like in the US market is no small feat - but the gov't is desperately looking for a taxable source of sports revenue for entertainment and sports derivatives are the answer.

GL to you.
