SPORTS BOOKS THAT ARE STRUGGLING
June 17, 2004 - THE SHRINK
Let me preface this column by stating that just because a sports book I mention may be struggling to make ends meet does not necessarily mean they aren't to be trusted. Some of the most honorable men I have ever met are involved in a couple of these operations, but they happen to be having a hard time and they owe out money to other bookmakers, agents, and in some cases, gamblers. My purpose is to inform gamblers so that they can decide whether they want to continue playing at these shops, or take a wait and see approach, which is the one I recommend.
The first set of sports books has been around for a long time and they all operate underneath the VWAGER umbrella. The sister books include PLAYERS SUPER BOOK, MVP (remember there are two, but only one belonging here, mvpsportsbook.com) and BEVERLY HILLS BOOKIE.
.
The first sign of trouble came when they were not able to pay out an advertising debt, but more alarming is the fact that at least three gamblers who have asked for a rather small pay out are being slow paid. Supposedly, they are to receive their money soon, but as of today, they have not.
CASCADE is another sports book that gamblers should be careful about due to the fact that a major backer is likely to be pulling out. Given the current environment and since we don't yet know the result of a meeting which took place yesterday between the major backer and Cascade, it would be highly recommended to wait and see what the result of that meeting is before taking a chance and sending them money.
I warned everyone about BLUE GRASS months ago and despite the fact that their main guy is extremely honorable and trustworthy, they are operating on fumes. They have serious debt and have been asking some other bookmakers for financial assistance.
ROYAL SPORTS had been struggling to pay out gamblers earlier this month but to their credit, they have cleared this debt and all gamblers to my knowledge have been paid in full.
VWAGER & ROYAL had been sponsors on this site, but we have taken them down UNTIL we are more confident they meet the HIGH standards we require to advertise on TheRx.com.
If they rebound and meet the requirements necessary for reinstatement, we will be happy to have them back.
In conclusion, many offshore bookmakers have not fared very well over the past couple of months. Therefore, I recommend to stick with the ones that have a proven track record of paying out quickly. I am proud to say that NONE of the sports books that we display on our Home Page are having any financial problems that I am aware of...
