Simply unacceptable, need to get there shit together. It's one thing to leave people stranded due to a blizzard, but having your computer systems fail again (Hacked?) Causing entire fleet to be grounded, cancelling flights 20 minutes before takeoff, no communication....just terrible. They have lost a customer.
They didn't handle anything, nor have a plan on how to handle anything. Felt bad for the employees on the front line who have been left hung out to dry. Ended up having to book flight with another airline to reach destination, was told to save receipts for reimbursement. Employees weren't given any latitude to send you to another airline, no offers to get you a room due to being stranded, nothing, just a penny pinching management team trying to preserve their quarter. It will take a long time to overcome this hit to their image. You had actually experience their ineptitude to fully appreciate. done with them.
Have a buddy who lives in Orlando Fl. He and his wife were going to Vegas today on Southwest. After standing in line for hours they told him they couldn't get him close to Vegas today. He got a full refund on all legs of his trip and a $200 credit for each ticket.
He went home and booked a flight on American for tonite to Phoenix (he could not find a flight to vegas) for much more money than his original southwest ticket. He is going to drive to Vegas tomorrow morning. So it is costing him more money in the long run but he didn't want to screw up all his reservations for this multi city trip. hotels, car rentals and such.
