My grand daughter born last May was found to be blind in one eye due to cataracts - my daughter's been taking her to Childrens hospital in Boston where they've performed surgery and implanted a new lens, while clearing up the blood clot that caused the cataracts.
My daughter has been relating stories from the parens of other patients there with the same kinds of problems and she told me how surpised whe was at the high number of Europeans who've come here on their own dime to get their child taken care of - as one of them told my daughter, in Europe it's "one size fits all" and there's no room for any new developments that aren't approved by the state. If it's uncommon and outside the norm, it's not going to happen.
If my grand daughter were born in Europe, she might be blind for life in one eye - One more reason I don't want to see our medical system socialized.
