I've always stated 5Dimes is my favorite book but I'm feeling quite screwed right now.

I bet KAN WIZARDS 90 MIN/SJ EARTHQUAKES 90 MIN Under u2½ -128 and sat down to watch the game.

I was delighted to see that the score was 2-0 KC at the end of 90 minute and felt relieved when KC scored a third goal at the 91:30 added time mark.

5Dimes graded the ticket as loser and when I called to inquire why, I was told by "Jim" that ALL SOCCER WAGERS included the "added time".

The rules are posted very clearly "Unless otherwise specified, all soccer wagers are official on the result at full time (90 minutes of play + referee stoppage time).

I wagered on the total specified for 90 minutes. That's pretty specific to me!

Jim ended our conversation by saying he would NOT honor my wager.

Who's right and who's wrong here?

I was just re-reading your post and it seems that at the end of regulation the "official referee time" would have been 88:30 and the added time was completing the official time.(90 minutes not 91:30)

I hope I'm wrong for your sake.

Here's the official MLS site showing the third goal was actually scored after the 92nd minute:

I read it the same as glaken. I believe that the referee stoppage time is the "added time" that you speak of. Pretty sure of it actually!!

unfortunatelly for you, the third goal was scored in 'referee stoppage time'.

'referee stoppage time' = time added to clock by officials. it is a part of regular time and officially a goal scored in 93rd minute will go into books as a 90' min. goal.

I'm sure General Pete can help you with this...that book is well respected. At worst I would think they make it a non-wager and credit your money back. Also, they will probably be editing their Soccer rules page.

I hope you win, G

I agree with glaken - unfortunately, your bet is correctly graded as a loser.

The "90 Minute" reference implies that Overtime is not included. It's not referring to the 2 or 3 minutes of extra injury time.

Yes, normally the wager would include "referee stoppage time" UNLESS otherwise specified:

Unless otherwise specified, all soccer wagers are official on the result at full time (90 minutes of play + referee stoppage time).

This wager was SPECIFIED 90 minute which would not include the "referee stoppage time".

The thing is, normally overtime does not exist in soccer.

What does the 90 minute specification mean in regular season?

I think that overtime in Soccer refers to a "shoot out" at the end of regulation when the game is tied. Now I'm curious and going to look at a few other book's Socccer rules. Guys, why don't you do the same....Euro books that deal with Soccer everyday, etc.

Will get back to you soon,G

The way I see it is my bet was specified for 90 minutes NOT regulation and therefore the wager should be honored.

regulation time in soccer = 90 min + 'referee stoppage time' (usually 2-4 min) also called 'injury time'. the 'referee stoppage time' is a part of regulation time and a goal scored in that period, lets say in 93rd minute is officially scored in 90th minute. unfortunatelly your wager is a loser.

overtime in soccer = 2 x 15 min + penalty shots if teams are stil tied.

referee stopage time has nothing to do with overtime.
