LSU certainly has a better defense than Michigan, but I really don't think offensively they would do much better against USC than they did here. I sure know that if they had gone conservative against USC like they did here they would have paid for it.

No matter what....

CONGRATULATIONS LSU!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS USC!!!!!

Great year of college football, unfortunately the powers that be couldn't figure out a way to get the two best teams in the country for what would have surely been a classic.

Peace out....

Agreed - USC takes it. It's just an damn shame we'll never see it. Hopefully the "powers that be" pull their heads out of their asses soon so this split garbage doesn't happen again...

I would rate the game a pick.
Also, I wouldn't be that surprised
to see an LSU/USC championship game
next year.

Prophet...

Congratulations on a huge Bowl season...I know you kicked ass. I only bet on football, but I'll take a peek and follow your hoops action.

Anyone that wants to make some money next year, just throw a dime down on USC every game. I expect the lines will be even more inflated than this year (they still went 10-2), but USC gets nearly everyone back and is going to crush EVERYONE next year...starting with Virginia Tech in Game 1....wouldn't be suprised if their average point total hits 50.

That lsu d would get the better of any college off. They have shutdown corners which allows them lots of different blitzes and looks . I would like their chances against the men from troy. That d is lights out.

Norm Chow's offense with QB Leinart and WR Williams is run like the west coast system. Respect LSU but Williams is special. Watch when he gets into the NFL. Trojans by 7 to 10.

Edge to USC's Offense, but LSU would punch USC in the teeth in a way they've never been hit.

Tough Call, but if both team's were on their A-Game, then I say LSU, because USC had their best efforts on both sides of the ball vs.Mich..where LSU's Offense brought their C-Plus effort tonight versus OU..if LSU is clicking on Offense..LSU 29 - USC 20

Schouest, who's D-line are you talking about? LSU had 5 sacks today, USC had 7 on Thursday. Every D-linemen on USC (with the exception of the one that broke his hand and was out 6 weeks) was 1st team all Pac 10. All four starting D-lineman from SC will be playing in the NFL. As good as LSU is I don't think they can make the same claim. It's a little hard to compare these two teams statistically as the Pac 10 is a shootout conference that kills defensive statistics, which is why I go the route of how many guys are going to play at the next level.
As far as an USC/LSU matchup. Even though I had LSU tonight and was extremely happy with the outcome because OU had no business playing for a National Championship after getting their asses handed to them by K-State, I just kept saying I can't believe these guys are getting away with man coverage all game long. OU's Clayton is a slot guy that kills zone with his speed. Williams and Colbert are strength WR's that will kill you if you man them up. Michigan has very good DB's they tried to man up Colbert and double team Williams. They held Williams to 8 catches for 80 yards, but Colbert killed them. LSU would probably man-up both guys which is just asking for it. Another thing is Jason White has really been exposed, he can't read the field worth a damn. He couldn't check down to his secondary guys at all. Even the tv guys said that they're not even looking at the their TE. SC's Offense is based on 3 and 5 step drops, and getting the ball out to whomever has the best matchup quickly and letting their athletic ability takeover. That makes it really hard to blitz them. The only way to beat SC is to jump out ahead of them by a lot and keep the ball so you can wear down their defense. Because they will score points against anyone, I don't care how good your D is. The question is can you outscore them. Now I think LSU has the best Defense in the country, so they would keep SC down more than anyone else, but I also think that Matt Mauck showed that he really sucks tonight so no way LSU puts up enough points to beat SC despite whatever Vincent does. And forget about returns SC was the best in the country in net punting this year.

LSU would kick the shiznit out of USC.
I think there's a few pro teams that would have trouble scoring against LSU. The Sugar Bowl game should have been alot worse than the score indicated.
LSU is the national champs. This should not even be questioned.

The top offense in the land only managed 14 points and 1 of those TDS came on a 2 yard scoring drive.

Hope the Holidays were kind to you. Unfortunately it seems that you`re still sucking on the "shine". OF COURSE the Tigers D looked "all world", they were against what has been proven to be a fraud. OU`s passing gm looked like it was designed and executed by Fayetteville H.S. Let`s see them against a Norm Chow system, run by a legit big time QB w/HUGE WR`s w/speed. A far different outcome I`m afraid. Alas a good argument one that will never be settled. BTW congrats on your Razorbacks nice win against Mo., they looked great. What`s next after Mr. Nutt is gone, also Cobbs he must be about 35 by now.? See ya next fall buddy. I may be @ Oaklawn this spring.
