Time is a concept invented by humans. It's just a unit of measure. Oh, and the Catholic church didn't like Galileo because they equated his science with sorcery. Are you trying to say that Catholics don't follow the bible?

Yes. They never have.

They are a little better now at seeming pseudo Christian rather than outright satanic.

Interesting. So would you say that all protestant denominations are best following the teachings of Jesus? If not, which one(s) do you believe to be incorrect in their interpretations?

The ancients used the "goddidit" explanation for volcanoes, thunder and lightening, and every other natural phenomena they couldn't explain. To throw in the towel and say that god did it is intellectually lazy. Fortunately, people like Newton, Galileo and Copernicus didn't think like you.

Um, actually Newton, Galileo and Copernicus did indeed attribute all of the above to a Christian God.

Newton:
Though he is better known for his love of science, the Bible was another of Sir Isaac Newton's passions. He devoted more time to the study of Scripture than to science,
I have a fundamental belief in the Bible as the Word of God, written by those who were inspired. I study the Bible daily [34]

Galileo:

"Galileo expressly said that the Bible cannot err, and saw his system as an alternate interpretation of the biblical texts."

Copernicus:

"Copernicus referred sometimes to God in his works, and did not see his system as in conflict with the Bible."

Do you think I don't know that? Do I really have to explain the point I was trying to make to you?

Also, just for fun, keep in mind that during Galileo and Copernicus' time, they really didn't have any choice but to proclaim their belief. The penalty for being branded a heretic was pretty high, was it not?

Many denominations are a joke and do not preach the Gospel. I think true Christianity has always been underground and apart from organized religion. It's always been about a personal relationship between Christ and the believer.

Copernicus's work wasn't declared heretical until about 60 years after his death. Galileo, yes. Poor choice of words on my part in my response to zit. Replace "heretic" with "non-believer".

I see. You profess to have a relationship with Jesus...has he spoken to you or somehow revealed himself to you apart from say...how he would to any ordinary person? Or does it only go as far as you believing, repenting, and asking him into your life? Also, do you believe the Bible is 100% true and accurate? Sorry for digging a little deeper - just wanting to pick your brain - I promise I am going somewhere with this.

No, not really.....I'm very ordinary. He has revealed himself to us in the Bible. Why do so many mock the cross? They are lost. 1 Cor 1:18 The message of the cross is foolishness to those that are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.

But the Bible tells us that the way to eternal life is narrow, and most will follow the wide path to destruction. I believe that the original Greek manuscripts are without error, but there are minor possible additions in the texts we have now. None of which really have any significance nor do they affect a person's ability to understand that the way to heaven is by faith alone in Christ alone.

I agree with illini about the majority of the church world has gotten away from the cross.Sounds like illini found some good teaching.
You would be amazed how far away from the cross the majority of the church world has gotten.

There is only one way. That's the cross.
So simple.

As far as bible translation it's very difficult to go from Hebrew to English without having some serious discrepancies. You really need to be a Hebrew scholar to understand it all.

Another thing the church world teaches wrong is law and grace.A lot of the church world still lives under law.

Paul said you can't mix law and grace.
You are either one or the other.
The whole point of the cross was so people would not have to live under the law anymore

Clever. I'll give you an A for effort. But life is not about beer and gambling. Of course most people here will laugh at anyone like me. As far as the Satanic stuff, I'll say that most Christians are largely in the dark about all of that stuff. And I can't say for sure I'm right about Bush and others. But outright Satanic symbols left and right, as in Lady Gaga, well that stuff isn't a laughing matter.

Theres no such thing as a boggieman satan club. True Satantists fo the Church of Satan are just hedonists who dont believe in guilt, or bound themselves by othere rules set by society

A lot of weird people im sure, but no differnt then mainstream swingers or open drug users

thats basically what it comes to rich kids who grow up and start a hedonist club

no bizarre rituals, and if there are they are just publicity stunts
