Not actual Shrinkster from here I'm sure, but someone using his name. I have gotten several virus-emails from the use of his name, "The Shrink@therx.com among other names from "TheRX". Anyone else??

I have. And I get auto replies saying I sent a virus to another. I get approx 10 attempts per day with my Rx account. It's not The SHRINK likely, but someone who has his email in their address book. That is the case with me and SHRINK too I would think.

How ya been Mr. General Pete? Yeah, it's odd. I am guessing it has to be someone that is or has been a member here who has an agenda for some reason or another.........

Thanks for asking hache. I have problems like all of us do, but in the grand scheme of things, I am doing quite well. Life is one big lesson. I'm still learning daily. How about you?

The very first and foremost characteristic that makes a virus a virus is the fact that it replicates itself. The newer ones do this within the system as well as within the network or within the users email client.

I think those who write viruses and spread them with malicious intent should be treated as terrorists and receive a minimum 25 year sentance.

Same here Ol' buddy, just been busy "at the office" lately, not a lot of time for other things. Any future odds on next years NEXTEL Cup anywhere yet?

I haven't looked for any futures. The Hendrick Teams have to be front runners though.

its not necesarily a virus, most like something called "spoofed emails"

anyone can send an email and make it look as you sent it to yourself, same as I can send a letter that says sender and receiver Whoson1st and you get it in your mailbox

typically stupid spammers do that to prevent spam filters from deleting it and also to use psychology and trick you into open it and read the advertising they are sending

Put this entry into your address book:

!000

It will be located at the top of your address book. It is a null entry and a spoof or virus that spreads through your address will not reconize this and end itself (I put this in human terms for everyone). You will not have anymore problems with this.

Fair warning... where exactly do you put this "phrase" in IE. Does it work also in Mozilla?

Thanks,

I have AOL and don't use IE or Mozilla. Go into your address book and however you add a contact, that is the email address you use - !000 nothing else (those are zeros, not capital O's).

I got a "bounce back" stating that I had a attached a virus.

Apparently some *** is spoofing my RX email too.

Very easy to do.

Message to spoofer -- ok dickweed we know you can pass CS 102 now -- now grow up.

Thanks for that idea. I've added it to my Address List--It went to the top of list.

I just hope they catch all the spamers and spoofers and hackers . Then bring back PUBLIC HANGING!!

That will end it.

Kidslick - It will not eliminate a virus. It will stop the spreading throughout your address book, so your family and friends don't get it. Viruses recognize all letters, numbers, and blanks. Database programs use a flag (!000) to tell the program to quit running. By cheating a little bit here (don't ask), the computer will set it at the top of your address book, virus doesn't reconize the character as a number, space, or letter, and shuts down.

Remember, everyone should use virus protection once a week. I use Norton, and everyone should use a spyware program every day or two since these are potentioal identity stealers. I highly recommend Spysweeper over Ad-Aware and Spybot for this (19.99) on webroot.com
