You dont tip the newspaper boy every week? Holy fuck you are one cheap bastard. I really would hate to live my life in your miserable world

You tip the newspaper guy? You have no idea when he'll be by with the paper but you just stand out there waiting for him to come by or how does that work? How often? Weekly or what? Kind of curious.

Not cheap and my world is far but miserable but I'm not tipping a guy that gets paid a full salary to come out and complete a job which is HIS JOB.

What other things do you tip for besides the normal restaurant, haircut etc.? Kind of curious what you high rollers are tipping for now.

i think tipping the newpaper person is kind of standard operating procedure. not saying do it every week buy a couple times a year. normally when you call to continue service, 3, 6, 12 month subscription, they ask if you want to tact on a tip to your person.

i'm like you. i'm not saying anybody in here does it, but i find it rather funny when people try to show off by leaving a big tip. i'm a standard tipper, 15% at resteraunts 20 if they are good, maybe a little more if its a special thing or i know em or something. alot of people are good credit card tippers though, those people also dont own anything and pay monthly pymts on everything they act like they own.

i got bashed a few months ago on this topic for being a 15% tipper, but i'd like to see the people that were bashings finances....i tip what they ask for

I actually tip about 20% at a restaurant and for a haircut etc. but a glass guy uses a company truck to drive to your house and does a job he gets paid to do.

Why would you tip him for doing his job? Are you tipping him because he did a good job? Because, if he did a bad job then you simply drive to the glass place and tell the owner the guy did a shit job and they'll fix it anyway.

Restaurant - Yes, they rely on tips.
Haircut - Yes, so they don't F it up.
Coffee - Yes, because my order is complicated and a good cup is worth a small tip.

What else? If you get a dent in your car door from another car do you tip the auto body guy for doing a good job? No, because he gets paid enough to do a good job.

it won't be long until word makes it up to the insurance company ceo's that their customers are tipping the windshield guys $20.

Researcher: "I have a report that finds that 80% of our customers are tipping an average of $20 to the windshield replacement installers"

CEO: "does the report explain why are customers are doing this?"

Researcher: "they are happy with the service and they feel they are not paying anything out of pocket"

CEO: "Send a policy change to all customers, from now on there will be a $20 charge for all windshield replacements"

Why does it matter if he comes to your house? He drives a company car with gas paid for by his employer and does the same job at your house that he would do in the garage. Do you tip the UPS man for delivering a package to your house?

I tip everyone myself, yes everyone, as long as they are nice and do what they are suppose to do. For example, I do not do drive thru's, I go in everywhere and if I am at a fast food place and I ask the person, "hey how you doing today?" and they actually respond in something other than "fine, what can I get you", then they are getting a $2.00 + whatever change tip. Does not matter if I am 1000 miles from home and know I will never see the person again, I tip. I have always been a generous tipper at places I frequent, but started doing this (tipping everywhere) about 6 months ago and will continue to do so as long as I can afford to.

Working in the service industry my whole life I tend to tip anyone who provides a service. It may not be expected, but most of the people that work in the service industry don't make a ton of money. If they do a good job, why not throw them a tip? Christ when I go to Vegas I must spend 200 bucks a trip in tips to everyone from bar/waitstaff/bellhops/cabbies/doorman/strippers/whores...you get the idea :)

nothing wrong with a tip. its your money, your choice. If someone goes above and beyond where i feel a thank you is not enough, I throw them a tip. I am a contractor and last week a customer asked if I could do an extra which i did charge him for. he ended up giving me an extra 100 which I turned down but he insisted. That on top of what i charged for the job. I guess he was happy and impressed on me that he will give my name out any time he can. By no means was it expected.

newspaper boy or guy dont make alot of money delivering the paper, they rely on tips. 4 bucks a week is what i give my guy, when i send my money in for the paper. And 25 bucks at Christmas time.
I try to tip everybody that provides good service to me. Its just the way iam. I feel bad when i see people working jobs that i know dont pay jack shit.

But let's be honest CD, most newspaper boys are young men just working their first job. They have to start somewhere like we all did. You aren't supposed to get paid a lot.
