Jerry Brown was like Jimmy Carter, had real good intentions and is a great person, but has no clue on what reality is. Now he is looking even worse as Oaktown is starting to slip back into its crime-ridden past and the police can't control the Raider fans after they lose the Superbowl. Imagine if they won??? Problem in CA is that with so many special interest groups you have to be a hard-ass and tell them to stay in line, no matter if they give you money or not. That is the lesson Mr. Davis didn't learn. I worked with a city commissioned committee to deal with all kinds of social problems some years back in Diego and I tell you every week some sorry group would come in and tell us "if only this would change, we would live better lives". Problem is then if you did change it, some other group would come in and say "you ruined us, change it back". Constant BS all the time from everyone. The state is a big whopping mess and I can't say I miss living through that. Worst part is everyone says it would be the perfect place except for XXX living here ruining it. You name it: liberals, immigrants, out-of-state people, the dot-com people, the Hollywood people, the farmers. The state is nothing but blame someone else for your troubles so it just gets polarized. I don't think the worst is yet here.

These Indians better cough up some money, otherwise there may be some serious backlash and things could get ugly.

Also its a joke that these cops and fireman make 90 grand a year. I have a freind who is a fireman and he doesnt do jack squat, he only works 9 days a month and even when he does work he sits around and plays Gin all day and beach volleyball. These guys bascially rob us.

Would you prefer they hired outsourced guys with a visa from India to do this job Rail? Not all public workers make that kind of money, those level salaries only go to the higher level guys, maybe one a firehouse or precinct. I have a buddy that is a fireman in OC and he brings in 56k during his 3rd year. That is a subsistence salary in OC, he rents a place with his girl and they barely can afford it. If you paid any less there wouldn't be these types of people and then you would REALLY be screwed.

There is a waiting list a mile long for guys to get these fireman jobs, I know 6 diffrent guys that work for LA County and 5 of them make 6 figures, and they have the best benefits imaginable. These guys are so overpaid its a joke, its the school teachers that are underpaid, not the cops or fireman.

above post from Rail, makes LOTS of sense!!!
He is on a roll!!!!
Agreed firemen are very necessary but they do sit around when working and get mucho days off.
Teachers bust their ass, with no thanks, get nothing but sh*t, and no money.

Think about it a teacher spends every day with your kid , 5 days a week, for 9 months,
a firefighter has about a 1 in 100 chance in saving someone you know's life.

Which one do you think saves more lives?

But you can make the argument that Firefighters risk their lives while teachers dont and therefore are compensated for that. But then again with all the school shootings within the past few years, I guess both are at risk nowadays.

coal miners risk their lives far more than firefigthers and are not paid anywhere near that level.

you guys that think Firemen are overpaid and underworked should march right down to the nearest firehouse, wake up the firemen by shouting the following word for word:

"get the Fck up you bunch of lazy homo overpaid bastards. I want you girly pussy men to earn your keep and wash my car!"

Then after they wash your car you can go to city hall and tell your elected officials to reduce firemen pay or else there will be a recall vote and they will be replaced with Guys like Arnold.
