There were predictions that this forum would fall apart after the election, predictions of suicides as well, but it looks pretty much like the same old same old.

I think gameface predicted the suicides, well as for me I took the election quite well, I mean sure there was nothing to be happy about, but hey I'm in mellow CR, I'll just wait another 4 years before I give any thought to going back to the States.

I heard it very well put a little after the results came in, "the bittersweet irony of democracy is that the voters get exaclty what they deserve", well this is the first time in my life that I'm happy to have a medical discharge from the Army. Nobody's going to be drafting me, hope the rest of you all enjoy hosting or having your kids host bush's parties.

I do have to throw out a big shame on you at the righties. In the midst of a war and an all time record deficit, issues that have our nation's public damn near divided exactly in two, you have/let 4 million bible thumping wackos swing the election because they agree with bush being anti-abortion, anti-stem cell research and anti-gay??? WTF???

Kaya, the left is trying to salve some wounds by claiming the gay marriage issue cost them the election...not true.

More to the point, the morality gap didn't decide the election. Voters who cited moral issues as most important did give their votes overwhelmingly to Bush (80 percent to 18 percent), and states where voters saw moral issues as important were more likely to be red ones. But these differences were no greater in 2004 than in 2000. If you're trying to explain why the president's vote share in 2004 is bigger than his vote share in 2000, values don't help.

If the morality gap doesn't explain Bush's re-election, what does? A good part of the answer lies in the terrorism gap. Nationally, 49 percent of voters said they trusted Bush but not Kerry to handle terrorism; only 31 percent trusted Kerry but not Bush. This 18-point gap is particularly significant in that terrorism is strongly tied to vote choice: 99 percent of those who trusted only Kerry on the issue voted for him, and 97 percent of those who trusted only Bush voted for him. Terrorism was cited by 19 percent of voters as the most important issue, and these citizens gave their votes to the president by an even larger margin than morality voters: 86 percent for Bush, 14 percent for Kerry.

4 million bible thumpers unexpectedly came out to vote motivated by the get out and vote campaing, idea that the right stole from the left. That swung the election.

On the other hand our own are to be blamed as well, a lot of college students did not get out and vote.

Could it be that most people in the US didn't like Kerry. The might save you alot of sleepless nights. Why don't you spend your energy trying to get your party to change some of its platform. I would post the map for you to see again. however you probably have it posted above your bed.You and Dan Rather are probably still trying to figure out what states you can win !!! yep the keg, the pop quiz and monday night football makes it tough to get the polls on tuesday by 7, vote or die. doesn't the commie professors stress how important it was to get rid of the evil bush. that's the problem not enough students voted for the liberal agenda.

Have slept quite well since the election.

I live abroad and can't be called up for any draft and my son won't be old enough to be drafted until dumbya is gone.

The voters deserve what that get, I'm just happy I'll be watching it from a far.

And more soldiers will come from where exactly???

There's already a back door draft extending G.I.'s contracts indefinately.
The military is spending serious advertising dollars for the first time in how many years.
40 year old reservists have been called up which didn't even happen in WWII.

I guess maybe we could start cloning soldiers as long as no stem cell research is requiered.

You are out of touch with reality. Plenty of vets would return if called on. There is no real push right now for new recruits.

The guys in the military now want to know when the hell their commitment is up. Guys are being forced into extended contracts (and before you try to deny that one I have a family member that was ordered into a year's extention on his tour).
I'll have to look for the stats for ya later but the fact that no one is joining and that the military is spending more than it has on advertising in years is common knowledge.

You leftist don't understand Americans. If we were in a full scale war Americans would fight. We can win with the current troop level, of course we have to use some mean weapons.
