I decide to take a run up to the local pub for a 6 pack and my car is running real sluggish. Thinking it is no more than a tune-up away from the classic it is, I carry on my trip. As I pull in the store, I smell an awful odor but can't pinpoint it. Luckily had a lady friend there at the store and asked her to follow me home. Sluggish the whole way, the smell is really bad unlike motor oil or tranny fluid. I make it to the back behind the garage and turn it off. All this in 10 mins running time. Taking a look in the engine, I figure a blown or cracked head gasket. But after further review, I notice smoke from underneath the back seat. No choice but to rip it out and low and behold flames!!!! WOW. Fire under the seat. Do not know why the fire, but grabbed water hose and got it out. Ripped out back seat. Heat appears to have came from muffler underneath back passenger seat. Man, I was minutes away from it burning to the ground.
car sluggish, like plugs/wires/timing and back seat on fire. You tell me experts.
