go to the bank and get a print receipt of the transaction, or call'em so they fax you the receipt(dont think they would do it)...as an advice anytime i pay any service on line i always get a print screen of the transaction and seve it on my docs just in case something like that happens

you do know that there are two bills involved

one for cabletica (tv plus 1/2 of the internet)

one for racsa (1/2 of the internet)

if you only pay one bill they are going to cut you off (of course)

so if you only paid cabletica......you have to find out your racsa account number and pay that too (and just in case, if you don't like it then leave ~~:<< )

shoot.....

this is going to be fun

NES, I really don't know what to say because I don't have an account at BCR but Jay is correct, getting the screenshots at the time of payment is the way to go since normally you cant go back and get the details of what you just did

I have the feeling you are going to have to go to BCR branch and ask them to give you a printout that it was paid and then send that RACSA

Does the BCR system allow you to see what pending bills exist for RACSA? I imagine you enter your racsa account number and see whats pending ?

ah NES

you said this

"I called Cabletica and they said it was on the racsa end. "

if its on racsa's end doing this " just paid my cable bill" won't help one bit

what you need to figure out is if there are pending bills from RACSA, RACSA charges in arrears (as opposed to cable who normally charge ahead of time)

and there is also a one month deposit payable to RACSA, they charge a deposit (cable normally does not) .........

so what you need to do is call RACSA and with your RACSA account number ask them if there are pending bills

and if you stop posting.....we will know you got cut off

to send you yet another bill?

No seriously, its probably because RACSA doesnt believe/trust the cable companies that they will get their half, either that or some stupid legal clause that says they must bill the customer separately

SUPOSEDLY the cable companies are already applying to run their own internet connections as opposed to go through racsa so perhaps in the future you will get just one bill

in the mean time.........pay the bills ~~:<<

My RACSA/Amnet story.

I had RACSA/Amnet cable modem (2003). I got my first RACSA bill in the mail, whent to the Bank to pay it, and they said I couldn't because it had some special provisioning charge. I had to go to downtown San Jose RACSA office to pay it. Fucking huge pain in the ass.

The next month I tried to pay it at the Bank and they said I couldn't without the physical bill, which RACSA never sent. I never got a bill again from RACSA, never paid them.

Two years later (2005) my Internet gets shut off. Amnet tells me it's a RACSA problem. I go to RACSA, and they say it was cutoff in like April 2003 (it just took RACSA and/or Amnet two years to execute the cutoff order). So what did I need to pay to get reconnected? Just the bill for the month of March 2003 and a small reconnection fee. @)

Unfuckingbelievable.

A friend of mine went through somethng similar but his accountant handled all the bills, so he had no clue that he went 2 years without paying RACSA....of course at the end he said 'screw it' and went to ICE to get a DSL line because they never order to cut it off .....instead they suddenly found out he owed two years of service

Man, there are two main mistakes in what you did.

First you used cabletica (the worst provider in this country... although ICEs policy of vastly overselling their bandwidth provides Cabletica with stiff competition for being the worst).

The next was using Tico internet banking... which has something like a 10% margin of error.

Yes, it is a hassle to pay in person, but I prefer to pay phone, racsa, amnet, light, telephone bills all at once an in person. I generally do this at the same time I go shopping to save time. A little inmediate hassle will save me from large future hassles. A friend got double billed for over a year, didn't realize it untill it was way too late. No refund or satisfaction was given.

For what gamingdude said....and other reasons....I would never use autobilling.

But it does suck that his friend got double billed.....if nothing else I would have charged back as many months I could or raise as much hell as I possibly could (which I am not normally known for , however in THIS case...)

So my shit has been paid up for 48 hours, once its reconnected is there any special steps for getting back online. Dumb question, I know but Ive only had one computer in my life and it was stolen before I ever had a chance to be late on my payment. Also Im starting with a laptop that has never been connected to this particular cable modem.

is there a router connected to the modem ? as in cablemodem>router>computer?

if not , you really SHOULD, it will protect it from a lot of crap that could attack the computer directly

In theory this is what I would do

a) call cabletica and confirm that the service is enabled, tell them you paid RACSA etc blabla
b) once they confirm just plug the computer in, BUT make sure that the windows firewall is ON (this is an absolute minimum)

to do that follow this instructions

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/security/winfirewall.mspx

c) that should do it

if it doesnt work (very unlikely but then again , I have never used cabletica) it is possible that they allow service based on the MAC address of the computer (think about that as the serial number of the network card....cabletica would have your account and the 'authorized' mac address ....since each computer has a different MAC address....then you would have to call and tell them 'my mac address is now blablabla')

but I wont get into those details unless you say that they require that

I just got a router but its not wireless, the friend who sold me the laptop included it so I could have my PS3 and computer hooked up at the same time. Not sure if thats the type of router you mean but thats what I go. But theoretically it should just come on right, there are no extra steps? Once again this laptop has never been hooked up at my house, do i have to do anything to make it work with my modem? The modem I have is the one provided by cabletica.
