I wanted to play the Rams, so I figured I would just call it in since I had two 4:05 games ...

When I last left the website the line was Rams -2...A minute earlier...The line the clerk gave me was Rams -3 -120 lol:finger: ... I said 'no thanks'

I log back in on the website the line is Rams -2.5 /-110

:WTF:

Is this common ? A very well respected book BTW

No way...the line was -2 a MINUTE EARLIER...

It doesn't go to -3 -120 that fast...and when I logged back online a minute later it was -2.5

No I didn't know...I play almost all my bets online...

Why would they be dealing me two lines ?

Doug I doubt you know what book I'm referring to.

Because you have probably been spanken' em. Why would they not conduct business just like every Local in the country? You deal the dog players a diff line than fave players. I'm sure many here can confirm my thoughts here, it's the truth.

It can happen, I've heard of it. I've never experienced it, as I only call in when a website is down.

I doubt most books deal two lines, but I'm sure at least a handful do. Some people have no problem with it, I don't like it.

This sort of reminds me of when I used to be a bookie back in the day! Well I had around 30 "clients", mostly college students, who would call in and bet everyday. Of course, no one had a computer, much less internet back then, so being a bookie was easy money! But i had some players who I KNEW who they would take before they even called!!!

FOr instance, I had guys who would bet on the Dallas Cowboys EVERY WEEK no matter what spread that I gave them! SO I would usually make the line -3.5 or -4 if it should have been -2.5 or -3. Of course they didnt know any difference since there was no one else out there to take their bets. And I would usually tell them that I wanted to "balance" the action. The truth is that I DID NOT want to balance the action since most of my clients were winning at clips of like 35% or so.

I mean these guys would take ONLY favorites with lines over 10 points or so in College. Now we all know that you will go broke FAST when you take the big favorites!!

But I would adjust the line on ANY favorite that they asked for in my favor and of course they would still bet it. Every now and then someone would take the other way, but only maybe 5% of the time.

Likewise, when i call into a book today to place a bet, I usually ask the book what is the line on the MNF INdianapolis line. It would appear that I will take INDY, when I really want Minnesota. Sometimes it is best to switch up your call in routine!

I was going to say about which team you "axe" about, but it's pointless. I won't deal with dual lines or call-ins. If I have to call in, I ask the line on # *** vs # ***, using standard rotation with visitor first, but I deal with good books, good in my view, anyhow. It's just ingrained in me to do it in a pro manner, like hiding your hole cards in poker.
