I had a place up off Lake Mead and Apache for 3 years. Yes I drove most of the time, but once I got DOWNTOWN, or even at The Strip I could still walk everywhere I needed to. I think it was a 15 flat rate from where I lived to Downtown; 20 to the Strip. Usually I could get a ride back with someone if I needed one. So if someone didn't have a car it wasn't nearly as bad as it is around So Cal without one. I can't go to Fashion Island without driving
. Although I will walk down to PCH once in a blue moon.
But I rode the bus a couple times, you are right, kind of scarey once you get off the tourist path.
But I am debating on what I am going to do next spring, the place I had was sold and turned, so I need to find someplace else if I plan on staying there for the summer. Rents aren't nearly as cheap as they used to be.
