Ohio st didn't schedule any FCS schools. TCU and Baylor scheduled Samford and Northwestern St. I think that about sums it up.

I think OU killed both teams chances with their loss to OSU. Otherwise it was a very close vote...

The Big 12 changing the conference championship rules and naming Baylor and TCU co-champs because they thought TCU had the better chance to make the final four really screwed them. There is no way Baylor can beat TCU, regardless of the circumstances, and then beat Kansas St, and be behind TCU. The Big 12 seemed to ride the committee's choice of TCU as #3 last week and figured that was their best chance to get a team in the playoff. There is no way the committee wants to make the choice between those two teams and leave out a big time school like Ohio St. In a way, the Big 12 made the decision easy for the committee. Ohio St won the conference, in a very decisive way,and the Big 12 situation is a mess.

We can almost guarantee this will make the change to an 8 team playoff a lot easier. You know the TV networks are pushing for it. At the very least, we can be happy that we didn't have to cut down to two teams, as that would have been a disaster.

I think the winning formula for Ohio St wasn't the 3 very mediocre performances they had in their last 3 games, it was the 59-0 win over Wisky that made the committee buy in. Plus they'll have 2 times more eyeballs watching Bama/OSU than Baylor and TCU combined. And they'll have more fans that will be willing to travel to both games. And filling seats is a big deal to this whole experiment. Just another reason why the Big 12 better go undefeated or they'll more than likely be left out of the playoff for here on out. The Big 12 needs to change their motto from One True Champion to "One True Embarassment Of A Conference"

Even at his age Tom Osborne has to be doing cartwheels today. I can't say Texas and the Little 11 don't deserve it after the way that conference has been handled. Its mind boggling to me how the other Universities in the league let Texas destroy it.

It never ceases to amaze me the way some of you guys think. Let's be realistic about this. First, these playoffs are about money. Plain and simple. If you add four more teams you get a disaster. Let's take the Sugar Bowl for an example. In 2015, the Sugar Bowl gets the best SEC team not going to the Playhoffs. So if you have a 4 team playoff, like you do this season, the Sugar Bowl would get a two loss team. Now add on another 4 teams into the playoff picture. Now two SEC teams go into the Playoffs and the Sugar Bowl gets the #3 SEC team. It could be just as bad, if not worse, for the Rose Bowl.

These Bowl games are tied up for the next 12 years. Get used to this format, because the bowls are not going to budge on this issue, nor will many University Presidents.

He probably was pretty happy about it in the end. But I'll bet being ex-head coaches that Osborne and Alvarez were still crunching the numbers on these teams much more than the other committee members. They know it's the game (stats) inside the game that really determines the best teams.

If it's about money, and it is, then who the hell cares what University Presidents or bowls think? TV has all of the money and when they put up more money to have an expanded playoff, University Presidents are going to take the cash, and bowls are going to fall in line.

I agree GS and I had no dog in the OSU/Baylor/TCU fight. I'm not a Bama fan either but behind the scenes I think they love the OSU matchup instead of having to play Baylor or TCU.

The idea that they will never expand is pure unadulterated horse crap. The lower division teams have been doing it right for decades. This wannabe 4 team playoff was set up as just a model of things to come. The only thing standing in the way is the contract with the old and in the way outdated bowls. This will change too. Especially after they totally junk the NCAA. All of this stuff will be re-evaluated in 2-3 years and they'll make the necessary changes where they feel they need to make them. Changes in this country, whether they be politics, business or sports, are never done all at once. They are done in increments.

Exactly. Remember they are on a 12 year cycle. That is broken down to 3 four year cycles. Do not look for any changes in the next three years. By the same token, if the Big 12 is smart, they are seeking two more teams tonight. It is rather obvious that the Committee is going to hold the lack of a CC game against them. Baylor had better start looking for non-con opponents a bit tougher than Liberty, Lamar, and Incarnate World. Baylor is really a disgrase to Power 5 Football.
