I live in the northwest part of Las Vegas and it isnt as bad here but down by the strip they are getting hammered. Supposedly 3-4 inches or so on the ground. They are talking up to 6 inches.

My finacee's flight out of McCarran has been cancelled and her trip to see her family for the holidays has been put on hold and most likely is cancelled. No one can believe it. Traffic is at a standstill. You have to see this too believe it.

Second time it has snowed this week. First time since 2006 according to the LVRJ. First measureable snowfall in 5 years.

I left Michigan to get away from this stuff, UGH!!

Now you know what I have to deal with for a good chunk of the year. Unfortunately, it's so rare that Las Vegas doesn't know how to deal with it.

EDIT: Ah.. I see you were from Michigan.. you know what it's like up here then.

So much for Global Warming

When I first got here I said I thought I might miss a little snow but not a lot, maybe some around Christmas. Loved snow as a kid (who didnt) but the older I have got, it sucks.

Since I have been here in LV I dont miss it a lick. Hope this is the last I see of snow for a looooong time. My mom back in Michigan keeps telling me how bad it has been there. Last winter was one of the snowiest winters ever in Michigan.

Warmer summers .. colder and more severe storms is all part of global warming. Lake Mead is also going dry and you actually think that this storm will fill it back up ? Keep smoking that good stuff !

Ignorance knows no bounds. Global warming causes climate change. Nobody can dispute the polar caps are melting away.

Snow flies as Cougars practice in chilly Las Vegas

<!--subtitle-->Get used to it » The forecast is for more of the same up to game time.

Las Vegas » The Cougars left Provo for this weather?
That was the prevailing sentiment Wednesday morning as BYU practiced at Bishop Gorman High School in preparation for Saturday night's Las Vegas Bowl against Arizona.
Snow fell steadily during the hourlong practice, and temperatures were in the mid-30s. It was the first time the Cougars have practiced outdoors since early November, because when the weather is like this in Provo, they move to their indoor practice facility.
An hour or so later Wednesday, Arizona practiced in similar conditions at UNLV's practice fields, and it was a bigger shocker for the warm-weather Wildcats.
"We were laughing. This is crazy," said BYU linebacker David Nixon as snowflakes fell on his hair and eyelashes. "But you know what? It is still football. I have said it a couple times, I am just glad I am playing football [in mid-December]. That part of it is awesome. A lot of teams in the NCAA are sitting at home, training, getting ready for next year, when we still have a chance to play football, so any time you can do that, it is definitely a positive."
No matter the weather.
"For me, growing up in Utah, getting a little snow during football practice is part of the deal," said BYU safety Kellen Fowler, from Kaysville. "I say, 'bring it on.' It's fine."
He will get his wish. Weather forecasters are calling for more snow and cold temperatures throughout the week and into Saturday's game at Sam Boyd Stadium
