hey folks, spydoctor, and all those free spywares didn't work. i've used smitfraud before and it seems to work. i can get to some websites, but stuff like yahoo.com and torrentz.com won't work. any advice? stuff like performanceoptimizer and errorfix type BS websites pop up.

Smitfraud is heavy spyware itself...purposely directs you to the performanceoptimzer or a specific antivirus product(s) etc

You need to run the smitfraudfix to uninstall it from your puter.

Erp...EDIT...Saw TT's link is exactly that. Use it and keep it on hand in your My Documents.

I've pulled smitfraud into my system three times in past year and a half and was able on second two times to flush it out within 10 minutes.

thanks, i think i'm close to figuring it out. looks like that vundo trojan is the culprit too. may have been due to outdated java on my machine
