Surf,I would expect they would race him through the Breeders Cup and then retire him.

He'll need a break after the Bel...but if he can stay healthy, I agree that they will most likely bring him back in the fall for a race or two, and then try to get the BC...

It's in their best interest to keep racing him. The Breeder's Cup Classic is a $4 million dollar purse. There's plenty of big races leading up to that also - the Haskell, Travers, etc.

Even as banged up as Funny Cide was after the Triple Crown races last year, they still found a way to get him running in the BC Classic. As long as Smarty Jones stays healthy, they have to keep going with him.

HE WILL TAKE A LONG BREAK IS MY GUESS AND THEN MAYBE RACE AGAIN....IF HE WINS HIS EARNINGS WILL BE I THINK OVER 10 MILL WITH ALL THE BONUS.

I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD NOT WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE OF A CARRER ENDING INJURY AND HAVE TO PUT HIM DOWN. HIS DOLLARS AT THE BREEDING SHED WILL BE HUGE...SO IF HE RACES IT WILL NOT BE BUT 3 OR 4 AND THEN TO BREEDING SHED...G.

Judge I think thats correct, after the Belmont he'll get a much needed rest and should reappear in August for the Travers and then the Breeders Classic after that, as great as it would be to see him as a 4 Yr Old I would venture to say that he retires if he's a TC winner. The money made after racing for a horse with his numbers and stats greatly outweighs that available if still running with less risk.

BL,if he had an injury it was very minor. But I don't think he did.The owners just decided not to risk the breeding money. It has been more and more common not to run the top horses at 4.More money to be made breeding than on the track.Which sucks for racing fans. What happens is you only get geldings and second tier horses running after 3.
