I play slots when I go to a land based casino because I get treated better and lots of comps from the casino. Obviously there is no way to beat slots long term, but I have found an approach (I won't call it a system) that has worked for me the last three trips. Twice I won money, and the third time I only lost about $100.
I break my slot play into sessions. My session ends in one of three ways: 1. I've played 3 hours, 2. I've lost $300, or 3. I've doubled my entire trip (not session) bankroll. Then I am required to stop for at least three hours before starting the next session.
During a session, I start by putting $100 into a machine and betting either $1 or $1.50 per spin. This means that I'm playing either .5, .25, .50 or $1 machine. Regardless of machine, I always play maximum paylines but not necessarily maximum credits. And I try to only choose machines that don't have huge progressive payouts (their payback percentage sucks).
With that first $100, I play until either one of two things occurs: 1. I lose it all, or 2. I win at least 25% more than my starting point (in other words, I get up to $125). Then I force myself to cash out, go to the bill changing machine, cash the ticket, and go to my next machine.
At my next machine, I put $100 into the machine, but this time I am betting $3 per pull. All the same rules from before apply. If I lose the $100, I start back over and drop down to $1 or $1.50 per pull. But if I win at least 25%, I cash out and go to the third machine.
At the third machine, I put in $100, but this time I am betting $5 per pull. I am playing slowly, but I am racking up major points with the casino comp system. Here I am playing either a $1 or $5 machine. If I get to $125, I cash out and continue playing at a $5 level until I lose $100. Then I drop all the way back down to $1 or $1.50 per pull and begin the sequence all over.
I do this until a session ends in one of the three ways I described earlier.
