Controversial ESPN personality Skip Bayless is leaving ESPN after 12 years with the company and is expected to land at Fox Sports. ESPN announced Tuesday in a statement that Bayless will be moving on this summer.
Skip Bayless has decided to leave ESPN when his contract expires at the end of August. His final appearance on First Take will be the day after the NBA Finals conclude. We want to thank Skip for his many contributions to ESPN. His hard work and talent have benefited ESPN for 12 years.
Bayless joined ESPN on a full-time basis in 2004, appearing on "Cold Pizza" which is now "First Take." Bayless's presence on ESPN has been part of the "Embrace debate" mantra popularized by Jamie Horowitz, a former ESPN exec who is now at Fox Sports. Bayless joins Colin Cowherd and Jason Whitlock as ESPNers who have left the company within the past year.
The Worldwide Leader has also parted company with Bill Simmons and eschewed his eschewed the Grantland site he started. On Monday it was announced that Mike Tirico was leaving ESPN/ABC for NBC.
