Singers and actors

I notice that the left gets a lot of support from singers and actors.

Now, please correct me if I'm wrong, but these people make a living by making believe they're someone else, and by excercising their vocal chords. Many of them are drug users and people of low moral character - just look at their records. Many of them are elitists who would have one set of rules for the masses (that's you and me) and another set of rules for themselves (re: Barbara Striesand and her SUVs; Rosie and her gun toting body guards; Alec Baldwin and his abuse of his wife).

So why is it that so many people from the left revere these characters and make icons of them? Why do these people think the first amendment should have no limits and the second amendment should be abolished?
Why do these people use such abusive language towards people they hate, and then call their attorneys when the tide is turned on them?
Many of these people are Jews and homsexuals who support the rights of the terrorists - the same terrorists who've attacked the United States because of the trash that these people produce.

Maybe I'm just old and getting slow - but these people tend to represent everything I detest in a human being, greed, sloth, perversion and self agrandizement.

I appreciate a good debate and I have a lot of fun on this forum debating and finger pointing - but these people sicken me with their evil, mean spiritedness - they are more about silencing opposition than expressing their views in point and counterpoint.

I don't know that the left does actually revere these people, politically anyway. Certainly their 'contribution' to the campaigns might help entice young people to vote (never a bad thing) but any thirty-year-old who decides to vote for Kerry because Dave Matthews likes him is not all there, imo. I share your opinion that these people couldn't be more detached from the real world and just might be about the LAST people voters should look up to. Hollywood bugs me in general, though.

(Just to be sure I'm still on the opposite side of the fence as you, re-read your original post to determine if you haven't described a number of right-leaning individuals, too. Drug users? Immorality ridden? Greedy? Perverted? Sloth-y? Lots of that among the right as well.)

the biggest laugh I get is that the hollywood libs would be the first ones to be minus their heads under radical islamist law.
One of the most hated things about western culture is the hollywood lifestyle and products.
Although I got to admit it would be funny to see Barbra Streisand and Susan sarandon getting their ass beat for mouthing off or not covering their face or for that matter using the sidewalk...Or seeing Michael Moore stoned to death for protesting to one of the local clerics for not being able to get a 3rd helping of goat balls.

I agree with Bblight - why do people listen to actors like Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Fred Thompson, Sonny Bono when he was alive or the really lame guy from Love Boat that used to be in Congress? Why listen to Toby Keith or Kid Rock?

I just don't understand why the right reveres these clowns.

Hey Mudbone - please note that most of the names you mention were upstanding citizens who took a chance and ran for office - they didn't bad mouth people and go home, they did something! You have to respect that!

The Hollywood Republicans tend to get elected to office because they're not idealogical wackos; they're much closer to the center than the left-wing idiots that dominate that town.

Ah, now I see the light - guys like Springsteen are total left-wing wackos, guys like Kid Rock, Toby Keith and Rush Limbaugh are true patriots (and I'm sure all of the last three have always been 100% drug-free).

I'm not saying ALL musicians and stars are wackos, just a lot of them. And I'm not calling anyone a patriot, especially Limbaugh (he's a slimeball); you're not a patriot unless you've seen real combat. What I AM saying is that the righties in Hollywood tend to be way more moderate than the lefties.
