I AM CONFUSED MR. SHRINK. YOU PLACED ONLY $6K ON ST. LOUIS YESTERDAY WHICH WAS A PLAY YOU REALLY LIKED, AND YOU PLACED A TINY BIT LESS, $5000, ON A SERIES PROP? YOU ARE TOO SMART AND EXPERIENCED TO DO THAT; I JUST DON'T BELIEVE IT. HOWEVER, IF YOU REALLY DID DO IT, CAN YOU PLEASE TEACH ME AS TO WHY YOU WOULD BET ESSENTIALLY THE SAME AMOUNT ON A PROP AS YOU WOULD ON A GAME YOU LOVED? MAYBE OTHERS HERE CAN LEARN ALSO.

Just my 2 cents but a plus 520 (or so) dog is not in the same category of bet as a small favorite (-120). Most prop or series bettors that play big dogs never risk even a full unit on a longshot. For example I might lay $1200 to win $1000 on baseball game I feel strongly about but a longshot prop (no matter how much I like it) would be worth no more than a $200 risk to me. Apples and oranges - longshot series props and single game bets risking or taking small juice.

Do a little experiment. Separate the underdog bets, greater than +2.00,
that you only played 1/5th of a unit on. Analyze your return just on those bets. It has amazed more than a few.

Cardfather - to be honest I am not a prop or series bettor to speak of. I would catagorize +400 or higher as longshot fifth or quarter unit cutoff prices. I play maybe 2 or 3 a year. I play a lot moneyline dogs between +110 and +280 and use my normal unit play. Thanks for the feedback. wil.

I stated in another thread that OldmanTed made some valid points against my pick, and therefore, although I still liked the Cards last night, I decided not to bet it any more than 6k, which for most gamblers isn't a weak bet at all...

Also, since i had WON a lot of money in the prior Series and in games 1 & 2, I didn't want to give a lot of it back by being stubborm minded..

There were several other gamblers I respect that were against me last night, too...

Sorry for watching game 4 instead of addressing this when you deemed it necessary...
