Headed to Shreveport for the first time next month.

This is what I'm looking for:

1. poker
2. spa for the wife
3. nice swimming pools/workout area
4. blackjack

I will say a very nice place to visit is the boardwalk. Great shopping and nice restaurants. It's a good atmosphere on a Friday or Saturday night.

The shoe, el dorado, or margarittaville are your only options here.

I've probably been to bossier 100 times...half with my wife...and have never messed with the spa.
Horseshoe basically meets all your needs and is close to the boardwalk.
The workout center is weak...and the best pool is over at margaritaville.
We stay at the horseshoe...comped... 90% of the time.

This area is pretty depressing overall though.

My favorite part about going through is visiting Great Raft brewery.

The horseshoe has everything on your list, and is right down the street from the Louisiana Boardwalk, for your wife's shopping.

Eldorado has 1-2 NL. Horseshoe has 1-3 NL with more tables, better poker room and more action.

Horseshoe by a mile. The rest are pretty seedy. Very nice people but the town is a dump.

Thanks for the info guys. We may head to Lake Charles instead... We really like the Golden Nugget/L'Auberge there...

What level of play do you need to get the Horseshoe room comp? Will they comp just for poker play?

Thanks!

Not sure really...I've been consistently losing so much cash there since 2001 that I feel like I'm on some kind of permanent comp.

True, and dont venture too far into the city unless you are very comfortable with low income city life.
