Should the NFL get rid of the coin flip?

I think the coin flip has got to be one of the stupidest rules in sports. From my perspective the home team should get the ball first (or decide) as part of home field advantage. Imagine if they flipped a coin in baseball to see who bats first/second? Lame! And for the Super Bowl the team with the better record gets the call.

Would prefer to see rock, scissors, paper....best out of 3

As silly as that sounds it really puts into perspective how silly the coin flip is.

No need to get rid of it

They just need to hire some officials who aren't mentally challenged

How about one team gets a rock and puts it in one of his hands behind his back, then the other team picks which hand he thinks its in, same concept

How about the shell game on the scoreboard and the visitors pick were it's at

Saw today where the NFL came out and said they shouldn't have flipped the coin again. They stated that there is nothing in the rule book that says a ref has to re-flip the coin.

They said the ref did this out of "fairness."

Imagine if GB would have won the re-flip and then scored a TD first after losing the initial coin toss.

I really believe the officials aren't familiar with the rules they are being paid to enforce. It seems like every weekend this year they were screwing something up.

The captains should have to play a televised game of monopoly or risk.

Nope...I like the coin flip, part of tradition.

Do you know how much money is gambled on the frecken coin flip.

Boys will be boys when action is concerned.

How many points does winning the coin flip add to a spread if any, anyhow? How about they roll a round of craps?

It's Yhuuuge in OT and somewhat of a factor at the beginning. Can't see why a flip of the coin decides it.

Plenty of things in the NFL don't make sense, like why is Hoyer a QB in the league.

home team gets the call, I'd be for that. Super bowl, best record or if that was a tie, then coin flip before the game

I agree it is lame but you cant compare it to MLB. In MLB the home team will get a chance to tie regardless. In NFL you score a TD and its over, no chance to tie.
