They are getting "revenue", by virtue of fan interest - and gamblers - watching the games....which directly increases ratings which allow the leagues to sign more lucrative contracts w/ the networks and charge more for commercials. This is a silly discussion. If they want revenue from sports bets they should go buy a sports book in Vegas.
Was in planet Hollywood during the nba playoffs last year. Can’t bet a Celtics game there cause the owner of the Celtics owns the casino. Lines weren’t even on the board. Said it was a conflict of interest to have the games available to bet on. Not that you should but I found it interesting and pretty awesome
The only way leagues should get money is if they invest in their own books to create more competitions, or partner up with books with sponsorships. Nothing of the sorts should be mandated through regulation. Leagues will make bank with more people watching, so in a way they will be making more money. More people will go to games, and watch it on TV. Millennials might actually watch if they have a stake in the game.
