SHOULD SPORTS BOOKS BE ALLOWED TO BOOT WINNERS?

While I was reading another topic involving Millenium Sports book, this subject came to light...

Let me start off by stating that I have been kicked out of many sports books over the years and I can't stand it when it is done to me...

However, I believe they have EVERY RIGHT to choose whose bets they want to accept and whose bets they don't want any part of...

Given the climate these days involving offshore sports betting, with a plethora of operations folding, this is one method that a bookmaker uses in order to show a profit, and in some cases, to stay alive!

Imagine if YOU owned a sports book and a certain few gamblers were cutting into your profit margin. Wouldn't it be WISE to get rid of the gamblers who were beating you?

OF COURSE IT WOULD AS THIS MAKES GOOD BUSINESS SENSE...

One of the lines I heard recently when thrown out was that the book didn't need another partner, lol...

But not to fret, for I always have a comeback that I use when this is about to happen...

I tell the sports book that I understand their decision but to please help me with a certain problem they are creating...

I state, "You are my only source of income. I no longer have my job. And while I surely do understand why you are cutting me off, please help me with the following:

WHAT DO I TELL ME WIFE?"

A good operation that has deep pockets should NEVER boot anybody! If a certain player or group of people are hitting you hard then edge off their plays or even them out and sit on the vig! If you are being booted then this operation is small because a smart person booking will always make money whether its large or small!!

Back in the early 80's I hit over 30 games in a row and was dealing with 5 local books that owned a restaurant I worked in! Never got booted picked up over 50 dimes in a week , 2 of the locals took whoever I bet and bet the same themselves and each made over 100 dimes! They said that every HOT gambler gets cold and BOY were they right cause I lost bout 20 in a row and they treated me like any other losing customer! Bottom line a good book will follow certain players!

No, they don't....it's absolutely ridiculous. They take....and take......and take......from losers, but when the role is reversed, they don't like it. It's very clear every rule a book has cleary benefits them, sometimes even making their rules as the go.Whether it be cutting limits or booting players, to not paying a customer after a bet has been accepted, saying they bet more than the limit. Some of the reasons why I gladly swap money with my local more now than in the past......

My local shows me his list every week cause we are close! He has only 80 customers but on an average of 52 weeks last year he had only 7 losing weeks overall! He like to balance action and sit on a few he likes!

To answer the question bluntly..........YES, they should be allowed.

However, for the high high majority of the time, I either disagree with it or/and have little respect for the book participating in this practice.

Whats the limit on getting booted?? Or reduced?? Man there are some shi--y books out there then! All books who booted players for winning should be black listed and posted here for us all to see!

I think they should be allowed to boot people. They have a right to choose their customers. I have been booted from a couple of places, but I feel that as long as they pay me before booting, I am OK with it.

I would think it would be bad business practice for the shop if word gets around, that a shop will boot you if you win too much. Common sense for all forms of Gamblers, winners and losers would be not to play these shops because that is what your trying to do, WIN,I'm not going to try to lose so I can stay at the book. What are the shops that have booted winners out ? OR has all of the shops practiced this at one time or another ?

Getting booted I guess is a good thing as long as you were paid! But for customers that are seeking a good place to play there should be a thread that shows books that boot or limit winners!

Yes of course they should be allowed to, but they should make this policy clear by posting it in their rules at least. And if they cut limits they should state that any place they advertise what their limits are.

I think it's foolish to boot winners and it's no wonder that the elite books don't do that. If you know for sure that a certain customer is operating at a positive EV, just follow his plays for higher amounts elsewhere. Very simple. Or if he's picking off your soft lines, get your act together and stop hanging so many soft lines. It really isn't that hard, but it looks like it's still above the level of a lot of bookies out there. And those guys deserve what they get IMO.

Books should like winners cause for every winner there are a few losers! Hey Mod's start a thread bout Books who boot or limit winners. If you start a thread people will respond! I think only problem will be that some of your advertisers here will be on THAT LIST!

I think books have every right to protect their money. I know VIP is usually the one of the most conservative books out there and they just continue to buy other books. Atleast Allister is up front about the whole thing. I would always prefer to just be told they no longer want me to play there than to have them let me just keep playing and winning and then them never paying me like Dennis at ESB.

The actual amount won is overrated when it comes to being kicked out. If you're constantly beating a shop to a number, even if you're in the red, you'll be kicked out.
