What if Penn State had branches all over the USA and all over the world, and it turned out that this pedophilia was being covered up for decades, and the adults involved were being shielded and protected. And that this was corporate policy.

That's the Catholic Church.
But the Golden Rule states that those with the most gold make the rules, and Jesus Christ Inc. is probably the wealthiest (and tax free) organization in the world.

Thirty years from you mention the name Joe Pa to me and I guarantee you the first thing to come in my mind will be those kids that got raped by the monster which he protected. Penn State shouldn't be shut down. But just keep in mind that the civil suits after this trial are just going to be insane. The payouts to these kids will probably be in excess of a 100 million and will cripple the school for years.
