To be honest, after 2 years of these topics, and with no disrespect towards yourself in any way, I honestly don't give a shit one way or the other any more. I'm being honest - which means that I personally will not hit a bad line (an obvious one, not one that is 'off' a bit) and I couldn't care less what problems a book or a bettor gets when a bettor hits an obviously bad line because I'll never had to go through it myself. I can't rehash this ad inifinitum until I take a dirt nap.

This is so easy..........Yes...Yes...Yes....A book should have to honor a bad line that is their mistake, just as if you have to stick with a bet if you accidentally click/choose the wrong side...........

I will tell you what a book should do:
They should honour all the customer's winning bets on a bad line and return the losing ones.

How does that sound?

For your information elite bookmakers and those do not exist in the Caribbean (not even Pinnacle) do this:

Notice

The kick-off time of the following Swedish Allsvenskan matches was advanced an hour earlier than its scheduled time 22:00 on 26 October 2003:

Enkopings SK FK-AIK Solna
Helsingborgs IF-Orgryte IS
IFK Goteborg-Landskrona BoIS
GIF Sundsvall-Halmstads BK
IF Elfsborg-Hammarby
Orebro SK FK-Malmo FF

For technical reasons, our acceptance of all bets relating to the above matches was only ceased as from 21:21 on 26 October 2003.
According to our Football Betting Rules, all bets placed after kick-off, i.e. 21:00 for the above matches, are deemed void. However, we have decided to grant a privilege and to treat this as an exception. We should stress this is not intended to and will not bind us as a precedent in the exercise of our rights and absolute discretion should the same or similar incident happen in the future.
We hereby confirm that we shall treat:-
1. All Win Bets (multiple included) placed during the period from 21:00 – 21:21 (“Period”) as valid and payout will be made in accordance with the odds at the time the bet was placed;
2. Save and except for Lose Bets placed during the Period on multiple, which shall be considered successful but with odds counted as “1”, all Lose Bets placed during the Period will be refunded.
The revised payout will be automatically transferred to our internet customers’ accounts on 18 November 2003. Registration for Cash-Betting Tickets payout or refund will be processed from 20:00 on 18 November 2003 to 20:00 on 2 December 2003 at all our operation outlets. Any registration beyond the stipulated time will not be entertained.

Ive called 5 dimes.com about 14 times in the last month notifying them about Bad Lines. I have a lot of respect for the kind of operation they run. But If it was at the MGM or Bert Osborne in Vegas and they hung a bad line, I dont know if I would be as honest.

acw,

first of all, good to see you.

as far as your post goes, i agree. any book that handles a situation in that manner, would have an excellent reputation. the players they would get, AND KEEP, would more than make up for what something like that would cost them.

It depends how bad the line is ! If it's +111 points instead of +11 points, then it's blatently bad, and shouldn't be honored.

I can't say where to draw the line. I will say you take a risk by betting a bad line. You may make yourself unwelcome at an otherwise good book, and draw attention to yourself.

An unscrouplulous (spelling wrong ) may cancel bet only after you win, and keep money if you win ( SIA ? )

There is little to be gained. Some books reward you for reporting a bad line with a small bet.

I say don't do it offshore. If it's a Vegas casino, do it.

Rail - Hogan was the swing master. I had a copy of his book "Ben Hogan's Five Lessons - The Modern Fundamentals of Golf" but like a lot of things, It is lost in my travels somewhere.

Great instructional guide, especially on how to properly grip the golf club.
