Perhaps he could be. What's your family of Republican/Trump voters like about him?
Some background: My extended family is pretty split politically in terms of Republican/Democrat. But even the Democrats in that group voted for Trump this past election cycle. They're from a pretty run down river town on the east border of Ohio (I was raised in the Columbus area after my parents decided to escape Eastern Ohio). People there prioritize emotional connection over anything when making political decisions, I've found.
Because of this, they loved Trump over Hillary. Their main reason voting for Trump was that they felt like he made a much better effort to prioritize depressed areas like eastern Ohio/WV/West PA, while Hillary didn't make that effort, nor does she have that kind of emotional effect on people.
Brown is different to them. Brown feels like "one of their own", and they think he wouldn't neglect areas like the Midwest/Great Lakes like Hillary did.
No real mention of policy, just the emotion connection.
