LOL...its just a sprained middle finger.

Guallardo stepped right in...Crew is deep now.

Over achieving ...no.

Right where they are supposed to be...look at pythagorean totals.

why are people so unwilling to believe the brewers are good? i dont get it. once gallardo is put back in the rotation as a regular they are going to be a whole lot better

He's saying they are deep because they have a rookie like Gallardo waiting in the wings. Unproven over the course of the season I guess but hes made enough quality appearances and showcased a great walk to k ratio to have me believing he is for real.

Gallardo is a phenomenal talent that is projected to have a phenomenal career. He is already better than 70% of all NL starting pitchers IMO.

There's a difference between jumping to conclusions on a rookie that has a few good starts to begin a career and between anticipating a pitcher to get called up who is already an above average MLB pitcher (talent wise)...go check the threads started on the day of his MLB debut.

Kid is the real deal.

Last year in the minors: 155 IP, 188 K (led the minor leagues), 1.86 ERA and 1.00 WHIP.

This year in the minors: 77.2 IP, 110 K, 2.90 ERA, 1.04 WHIP.

This year in MLB: 28.2 IP, 27 K, 2.83 ERA, 1.05 WHIP.

Tonight was right in line with that: 4.2 IP, 4K, 1 hit, 0 ER...

That, my friend, is consistency. Barring injury, Gallardo is going to be VERY good for a VERY long time. Just gotta hope the Brewers don't burn his arm out as he's only 21 (the only reason he was moved to the bullpen in the first place was so the Brewers could monitor/limit his innings). Could easily be a number 1 within a year or 2.

Are the Brewers a GREAT team? No. But they have been, however, the best in their division thus far. Also, it should be noted that the Brewers had a brutal schedule in May where they had to play the Mets, Phillies, Twins, Dodgers, Padres, and Braves in order, during which they went 5-14. They have no stretch even nearly that tough the remainder of the year.

Deep pitching staff, two closers, great 3rd and 4th hitters. They have all the pieces to be for real.

While they are not a great team yet, they are certainly still NL central contenders.

The Cubs last 9 have been against Wash, Pitt, and now a weak Houston team. They were going to make up some grounnd, but I still see this race going real late into the year.
